SUMMARY
  • Space Marine 2 was finally released earlier today, and players are already reporting various issues with its multiplayer modes.
  • Hackers have started to show up in the game's PvP and PvE modes, making it difficult for fair players to get through the matches.
  • Facing this problem for years with Warzone, Call of Duty players know exactly how the Warhammer 40K community currently feels.

It has only been a few hours since the highly anticipated Space Marine 2 went live and Warhammer 40K fans finally got the chance to dive into the experience that Saber Interactive has been creating for a long time.

While the Focus Entertainment-published video game is managing to live up to the massive expectations that were accompanying it leading up to its launch, there are some elements that are proving to be quite problematic, particularly for players who have been checking out the title’s online PvP and PvE modes. It turns out that hackers and cheaters have already made their grand entrance in the Space Marine sequel, and there is not much that players who like to play fair can do to avoid the issue.

The Online PvP and PvE Modes in Space Marine 2 Are Already Infested With Cheaters

It has not even been a full day since Space Marine 2 officially launched, but players are already reporting hackers taking over the game.

Prior to the global release of Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits assured the Warhammer 40K community that it will still be able to win online PvP matches even with useless teammates, but that apparently only applies when the other team does not bring a cheater or two with it.

In a clip showcasing the PvP mode of the game in all its glory, a Space Marine 2 player ensured that one of the enemy teammates was in perfect line of sight, got their weapon out, and started shooting at them, only for them to start glitching all over the screen without taking a single shot.

Wasting time, effort, and ammunition, the Warhammer 40K fan reported that the online modes are infested with cheaters, making it nearly impossible to get through some matches because there seems to be no way to actually hit the opposing side.

Other members of the community were quick to jump in and share their own experiences, as it is not only the PvP mode that is facing this problem; the PvE section of Space Marine 2 is going through similar instances.

Although the Space Marine sequel comes with anti-cheat software, it still has not properly kicked into gear, and without an apparent way to report the issues that players are facing to the developers, things could get a lot worse for the Saber Interactive-developed title.

Call of Duty Fans Sympathize With PC Players as Console Gamers Steer Clear of the Hackers

Turning the crossplay feature off is doing wonders for PlayStation and Xbox players, as PC gamers keep facing issues.
Turning the crossplay feature off is doing wonders for PlayStation and Xbox players, as PC gamers keep facing issues.

The cheating issue is something that Call of Duty players have been dealing with for years, as online multiplayer titles like Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 have only elevated the problem and made it more glaring.

Even with tons of patches and a supposedly strong anti-cheat system called Ricochet, the cheaters keep prevailing in Warzone, and Call of Duty fans have nothing but their deepest sympathies for Space Marine 2 players, ensuring them that even if the Warhammer 40K title had a report option, it would not have made much difference to their predicament.

Since the hacking issue mainly plagues the PC versions of the game, console players are content with turning the Space Marine sequel’s crossplay feature off to steer clear of such experience-ruining problems.

It remains to be seen how Saber Interactive will handle the cheating problem going forward, as the Easy Anti Cheat software that the developer is currently using for PC gamers is not really proving to be an effective tool to keep things under control.
