Destiny 2: The Final Shape is one of the best expansions that the game has ever received. Like every other DLC, The Final Shape has brought lots of new items and weapons to the game. However, the most exciting thing that the game has brought is probably the new types of consumables, called the Vestiges of Light and Darkness. These work as in-game currencies to unlock certain Prismatic Fragments. 

Therefore, it is natural that players look for these Vestiges of Light and Darkness, but the acquiring processes are not simple. They require players to complete activities, and once they are collected, players can combine them to get the Memory of Light and Darkness that they need to locate the Prismatic Fragment chests. 

You’ll Need These: Destiny 2’s The Final Shape’s Memory Vestiges of Light and Darkness Locations and How to Get Them

We have previously mentioned that Memory Vestiges are inventory consumables that players need to get the Memories of Light and Darkness. Once these memories are forged, they can be used to spot certain Prismatic Fragment chests within the Pale Heart. To get the Memories of Darkness, players need to find Vistage of Darkness; for Memories of Light, they must find Vistage of Light.

Vestiges of Light Location in The Final Shape

None of these Vistages require players to go through a complex process, but let’s start with the easiest. Once you appear in the Pale Heart, unlock the Cyst Dungeons. These are not areas that players can access by default. So, players need to unlock these dungeons by following a certain path. This method includes completing the Micah-10 quests from the Lost City. A random quest will not work. So, you must focus on completing the Alone in the Dark quest.

While this is the only option to get the Vestige of Light, there’s a tricky part as well. Some players may not get the quest as soon as they want. If the situation occurs, check if you have completed all the Memories series of quests. Until you complete all these quests, Alone in the Dark won’t be accessible. 

Once you have received the quest and spotted the Cyst Dungeons, the next objective is to kill Cyst enemies. Remember, the drop is not guaranteed, so you have to kill enemies randomly to ensure you get enough Vestige of Light. As you clear these dungeons, you will get around seven Vestiges of Light from each of them. 

Vestiges of Darkness Location in The Final Shape

The acquisition process for Vestiges of Darkness is completely different. These Vestiges can’t be found by completing quests, but they can only be acquired by cleansing corrupted chests in the Pale Heart. These chests don’t have exact locations; instead, they are located randomly while roaming around the location. 

When you are patrolling these locations, make sure to look at the surroundings to find the pyramid chests covered in Darkness. They are the corrupted chests you are looking for. Once you spot them, approach them and interact with the chests. A task will appear that players must complete within time. Generally, these chests give a 90-second timer to complete the tasks. 

If you cleanse the chest within the given timer, you will get Vestiges of Darkness, but if you fail, you need to restart the challenge. Generally, the patrol zone decides the type of task players will get, and interacting with the chest will give you the option to start stitching, expunging, or offering. What term you get will determine the task you have to complete.

It can be killing enemies while standing in Light Pools, escorting a bramble ball to a plate, or anything else. No matter the task, you have to complete it within time. 

Once you complete the task in time, open the chest, and you will get your desired item inside. This is a confirmed process. So, each corrupted chest will surely give you Vestiges of Darkness without exception.

How to Get Memories of Light and Darkness in The Final Shape

Now that you have collected lots of Vestiges of Light and Darkness, the next thing you must be curious about is how to use them to get Memories of Light and Darkness. The process is not challenging but a little tricky. So, without proper knowledge, players may get confused. This memory-forming process is automatic, without any substantial effort to invest.

Precisely, when you collect five Vestiges of the same type, they will automatically be combined and form the Memory of that type. For example, if you have cleared a Cyst Dungeon and get six Vestiges of Light, five of them will combine to make a memory, and leave the sixth one as an extra. The same process will continue with the Vestiges of Darkness. However, remember, only the same type of Vestiges can form memories. 

In the Pale Heart, players will find five memories. Among them, three are Light memories (Refraction of Light, Blooming of Light, and Seclusion of Light), and the remaining two are Dark memories (Divisive Darkness and Impassive Darkness). However, as soon as you form a memory, you will find a Prismatic Chest marked on your map. You can locate the chest, approach it, and then unlock a new Prismatic Fragment. The same process will follow until you get all five Prismatic Fragments.

That’s almost all the necessary information that players need to know about the Memory Vestiges of Light and Darkness in Destiny 2’s The Final Shape. These are not tough, but they need some time to be found. A thorough grinding will help players get all these Vestiges without much trouble.
