Games often go through rough times immediately after release. However, though the case is not exactly the same for XDefiant, this game has been going through a loss of player base within two months of its official release. According to reports, a considerable number of players have stopped grinding in Ubisoft’s latest arena shooter game.

XDefiant has gone through several delays since it was scheduled to be released in summer 2023. However, after multiple delays, it was announced to come in March 2024. Finally, the game was released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation on May 21, 2024. Even after release, the journey seems to be a tough one for the game.

Active Player Count for XDefiant Shows a Harsh Reality Compared to the Most Popular Games of the Genre

Ubisoft’s much-awaited game XDefiant was released after several delays, but the reaction of the fans doesn’t seem impressive.

Since the game was officially released, players have been trying to cope with the fast-paced gameplay, but most of them can’t survive if they don’t have time to learn the gameplay mechanism from scratch. There are several other factors that are contributing to the downfall of the game.

Recently, a Reddit user posted about a survey that they did about the first 10 weeks of performance of XDefiant and compared it with some of the most renowned titles, including Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, and Halo Infinite.

Though the post mentioned that the graph it contains doesn’t have exact data, it is still pretty alarming for XDefiant. The graph clearly shows that in the first 10 weeks, Call of Duty games never slipped off their top positions on PlayStation and Xbox. They either maintained a stable fanbase or received increased fans.

However, Halo Infinite and Overwatch 2 have gone through ups and downs, but not like XDefiant. Though on both consoles the game fell when it comes to active players, PlayStation gamers abandoned the game more than Xbox players. On PlayStation, the fall has been consistent without any rise.

Ubisoft’s Constant Ignorance of Players’ Demands Is Bringing Doom to XDefiant

Within 10 weeks of its official release, XDefiant received a downward graph, as players are leaving the game due to unsolved issues.

The chart has considered account opening data as well. Account opening data means that whenever a player opens a game from an account, it counts as playing it. However, accounts can register a game once a week. So, maybe there are some errors, but the trend is clearly visible.

Expectedly, players dived into the comment section to point out the reasons behind this falling player base, and one mentioned Ubisoft’s total ignorance of all players’ demands over the years. They expressed that since the beta was released, players asked for several things to be fixed, but the developer never listened to them.

Another player following the same thing said that Ubisoft should have fixed the netcode issue that has been bothering players for years. However, the developer never took it seriously.

A few days back, Mark Rubin answered some criticism saying that if players don’t like the game, they can move on to play other games. Players mentioned this as well as the reason behind them abandoning it.

No matter the reason behind XDefiant losing its player base, the fact is that the game is not getting support, even from hardcore shooter game fans.

Whether Ubisoft will take some action to control the situation or not is still a riddle, but while waiting for an official announcement, players can check out a change that’s been announced to be implemented in the game.
