SUMMARY
  • StarCraft was Blizzard's iconic real-time strategy game series that the developer abandoned in 2017 after the release of StarCraft: Remastered.
  • Recently, the developer broke its silence and stated that two of the games are coming to Game Pass for free access.
  • However, this announcement has made players confused about getting the game on Xbox consoles.

September seems to be the most eventful month of 2024, at least for gamers. Back-to-back big announcements have been released, and even some unexpected ones have also arrived without any prior hints. As soon as PlayStation finished showing some upcoming games at the State of Play, a PC game franchise declared its return after seven years.

If you are a die-hard Blizzard fan, you must have played a few StarCraft games, or at least heard of the series. This is a real-time strategy gaming series that Blizzard stopped after StarCraft: Remastered was released in 2017. After years, two games of this series are making their way to Xbox Game Pass.

StarCraft: Remastered and Another Installment Are Confirmed for Xbox Game Pass

StarCraft: Remastered was the last entry that the series received in 2017, and after seven years, this franchise has some updates.

Real-time strategy is not a very popular gaming genre, and players won’t be able to find too many games in this specific genre like others. Among the existing ones, the StarCraft franchise is one of the most iconic. The series started in 1998 and contains a few successful installments up to 2017. Then it succumbed to a prolonged silence, which broke after seven long years.

Surprising fans, a recent Xbox Wire blog post revealed that StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection are coming to PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on November 5.

This Game Pass announcement has confused a lot of Xbox gamers about whether these games are also coming on Xbox.

The StarCraft series has always been a PC-specific franchise, though one game was released on Nintendo 64.

What Are the Two StarCraft Games Going to Offer?

The two StarCraft games are coming to Game Pass.

Since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, a lot of big titles made their way to Game Pass. This long list now has two more renowned names, but players are curious about what these StarCraft games will offer.

Well, StarCraft: Remastered will offer the same content that players experienced in 2017. It was a remaster of Blizzard’s 1998 classic game StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War, released in the same year. The game featured an improved version of gameplay and visuals with some technical upgrades, which led it to a 7.9 Metacritic user score.

Alternatively, StarCraft 2: Campaign Collection is basically a collection of StarCraft 2’s single-player campaigns, along with over 70 missions taken from all the later expansions, including Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void, and Nova Covert Ops.

Additionally, it will bring Co-Op Commander Mode, where players can team up with other online players to enjoy the game.

StarCraft has left an unwashable mark on the genre of real-time strategy. Hopefully, it will be able to entertain players even after years.
