While his gaming skills earned him fame, love, and popularity, he has lost almost everything in recent months.
His permanent ban from Twitch following his improper message to a minor has caused him almost everything, from reputation to subscribers. Therefore, the gigantic Twitch streamer has now arrived at a stage where no one really cares about him or his gaming skills, and the situation is getting worse with each passing day.
Controversies Caused This Tragic Downfall of Dr Disrespect
Dr Disrespect used to be one of the most popular Twitch streamers, with more than four million followers. However, the image of the streamer was never clean. Though he always used to get involved in small controversies, things went too high when he received a permanent ban on Twitch in 2020.
At that point, neither Twitch authority nor Dr Disrespect stated any reason behind this ban. However, he made a return on YouTube a month after this Twitch ban and still got his fans because Twitch bans are pretty common and loads of streamers have faced this situation.
The scenario was favorable until June 2024, when a former Twitch employee stated the reason behind this ban. Reportedly, this 42-year-old streamer was accused of sending improper messages to a minor through the Twitch Whisper feature. Even the American live streamer himself admitted that this was the reason behind the ban, though he came up with his justifications simultaneously.
This is when things started taking a downward turn for him. It was clear that his justifications didn’t work, and after this incident, YouTube removed his monetization. Most importantly, his follower count started decreasing.
Following his admission of the incident and his ban, several other companies cut their connections with him, including Midnight Society, where he was a part-owner. He was reportedly developing a game there, but it refused to admit the streamer as part of the development team.
Dr Disrespect’s Latest Return Witnessed What He Probably Never Imagined During His Peak
Despite engaging in multiple controversies, Dr Disrespect was fortunate enough to get a faithful community who was always by his side until he admitted to sending dishonorable texts to a minor. This triggered a feeling of disgust among his fans, which caused his follower count to go down drastically.
Though he still boasted his YouTube subscriber number, it has reduced to 4.5 million. There was a time before this controversy and ban when the streamer used to gain more or less 10,000 subscribers a month. According to the reports from Social Blade, there were even times in 2023 when this streamer gained 70,000 new subscribers in a month. However, last month he faced a 20,000 follower cut.
Since this downfall started, the streamer lost thousands of subscribers in a 30-day period. Despite losing some 10,000 subscribers, it didn’t change much when the amount was in millions; however, the constant loss is reflected in his total subscriber count as it is steadily going down.
That’s not the only thing; this 42-year-old streamer has even lost loads of views in his streams, which clearly says that people are no longer interested in him. An interesting example of this was his comeback stream on September 6. Until he was talking about the Twitch ban and explaining his side, he got loads of viewers, but the moment he started playing games, it drastically dropped.
In the last few months, Dr Disrespect has lost almost 50% views on YouTube. Despite his saying that he didn’t know that he was chatting with a minor, it is clear that the community is not ready to believe his words.
Is Kick an Option for Dr Disrespect to Revive His Career and Followers?
Well, after this massive downfall on YouTube and the ban on Twitch, it is pretty clear he has to choose some other platforms to revive his career. Indeed, the Doc has lost a significant amount of followers, but he still has a few million supporters who want him to switch to some other livestream platform.
After Twitch and YouTube, Kick was one of the best options for the streamer to start his live-streaming career again. But once again he gets into disputes. A few weeks back, the co-founder of Kick made a statement about inviting Dr Disrepect to Kick, where he called it a “waste of money.”
Following this statement, the controversial streamer passed his reply where he said he has the best community and he would prefer to retire than go to Kick. However, according to reports, this scene was not exactly what it looks like now.
A few years back, Kick invited him, and the streamer was interested in joining them, but his absurd demand for money was the reason he was rejected.
Now that Kick is not an option for him, he probably has to choose some other platform to build his community once again and get back what he has lost.
