Where to Find Moon Dust in Hades 2 (and How to Use It)
It's time to begin some serious upgrading.
With Hades 2, Supergiant Games has created an elaborate rogue-like action RPG that is both charming and engaging, following in the footsteps of its prequel. With a new heroine leading the narrative and a lot of new mechanics, for players to learn, this early-access title is definitely a strong addition to this year’s roster.
Resources are among the new mechanics for players in Hades 2, requiring players to achieve a myriad of objectives for specific ones. They are used to unlock new buildings in the Crossroads through Incantations or to upgrade gear and abilities for Melinoë, sister to the first game’s lead character.
A Bond Built On Tough Love
Melinoë finds a friend and mentor in Headmistress Hecate, who initially tests her abilities in the game’s opening hours before blessing her quest to rescue Hades from Chronos, TItan of Time. The student and master clash again at Erebus, and Hecate offers a very special Incantation to Melinoë.

Called the Consecration of Ashes, this allows Melinoë to upgrade her Tarot Cards at the Altar of Ashes, an important ability to have for future runs through the Underworld. Hecate may also reward Melinoë with a Cinder, which is required for the Incantation. Hecate is the only known source of this material at this time.
In addition to unlocking upgrades to Melinoë’s Tarot Cards, the Incantation also unlocks Moon Dust, a valuable resource for these upgrades, for purchase at various points.

Aside from the Cinder from Hecate, Melinoë will also need 6x Ash and 6x Fate Fabric to perform the Consecration of Ashes once she learns of it from her mentor. Both items can be gathered from your runs through the Underworld, or purchased outright from the Wretched Broker if you’re in a hurry.
Performing the Incantation at the Crossroads’ Cauldron not only rewards Melinoë with 3x Moon Dust which she can immediately use for upgrades, but unlocks this rare resource for purchase with the Wretched Broker. Note that the Cinder may require you to fight Hecate at Erebus a few times to farm it.

You can now purchase Moon Dust from the Wretched Broker at a cost of 80 Bones. They also unlock at Charon’s shops in Tartarus and the Crossroads and can be bought in exchange for 4 Obol Points.
In addition to purchasing it, you could also craft Moon Dust at the Cauldron using Alchemy Recipes. The two recipes in question use very rare resources called Shadow and Star Dust which can make this a challenge. The recipes in question are Moonlit Essence from Shadow and Moonlit Essence from Stars. The former nets you 5x Moon Dust per craft while the latter only rewards you with 3x Moon Dust.
At this point in the game’s development, Moon Dust is used to upgrade Arcana Cards, allowing Melinoë to access a range of power-ups and buffs. She will certainly need them to take on bosses like Scylla and her Sirens. For more guides on navigating the Underworld to Olympus, our Hades 2 guides are sure to make life easier for Melinoë.
