Games can’t be flawless. There’s hardly any game that has nothing to criticize, but there’s something very weird in Starfield that has been drawing fans’ attention from the beginning of the game’s launch. Once again, a player has highlighted and questioned the absence of pets in Starfield.
Players Are Questioning Starfield Lore About the Extinction of Cats
Pets are the constant companions of gamers in many games. When it comes to action RPGs, they often get different types of pets, like cats, dogs, horses, etc. If not real ones, sometimes in futuristic settings, they receive robotic versions of these animals. However, Starfield created some exceptions, and the game doesn’t have any pets like cats or dogs.
This weird aspect has been bothering players since the beginning. When the official version of the game was released, players surprisingly found that no cats were added to the game.
Though this absence of pets issue has bothered players to a great extent and they highlighted it more than once in this one year, just two days ago, once again, marsimoon33 took it to the Starfield subreddit.
He mentioned the absence of cats and asked,
“Has anyone noticed all the cat posters around the Settled Systems? Along with the facial tattoo option of a cat with a cute little space helmet? Yet… no cats, not even any lore on why they no longer exist.”
He continued his argument by asking where all the domesticated animals had gone. The question is valid, but the answer is unknown. However, some players in the comment section tried to answer, but that cleared up nothing.
Starfield Players Are Digging Deep to Find the Answer to Not Having a Pet
Pets are kind of a mandatory part of action RPGs. Sometimes they are important, sometimes not, but having them gives players a feeling of companionship. In Starfield, having a cat or dog won’t change anything. Still, players have been questioning their absence since the game was officially released.
Though there’s nothing mentioned in the lore, some players came to stand with the game and mentioned that the lore explained that these animals didn’t survive the exodus.
Some players contradicted him and mentioned there are no hints at the extinction of cats in the lore. Instead, the lore says dogs are extinct.
This debate is an endless one, with players fighting and sharing opinions on why pets are not in Starfield.
Though Bethesda can solve this mystery, it seems like the developer doesn’t care about it at all.
