We Can Hear Certain Fanboys Crying as God of War Ragnarok ‘Better’ on PS5 Pro Than High End RTX 4090 PC
God of War Ragnarok has released on PC, and almost immediately, it has brought a comparison with the PS5 version that is two years old now.
- God of War Ragnarok was released on PC on September 19 with several impressive in-game features.
- Even though some PC features are great, the latest analysis revealed that the game runs much better on the PS5 and will be improved on the PS5 Pro.
- Though PS5 Pro hasn't yet launched, this analysis has made players sad about the PC version of God of War Ragnarok.
God of War Ragnarok is one of the thunderous sequels to the 2018 game God of War. Like before, the journey of Kratos and Atreus has mesmerized gamers, but until September 2024, this experience was completely restricted to PlayStation players. It has been about ten days since God of War Ragnarok made its way to PC to expand its fanbase and open its mythological world to more players.
The performance of the game is satisfactory on both platforms, but the rivalry between PC and PS5 has triggered a comparison that states that the game is performing better on PS5 Pro. Indeed, the PC port is missing some features, and as these were highlighted, it started arguments among fans.
God of War Ragnarok Console Version Looks Better Than the PC Port
The first glimpses of God of War Ragnarok on PS5 had impressed gamers. From visuals to fighting scenes, the game was designed perfectly for the console. The performance was also smooth on the console. After the PC port was released, a comparison automatically came to mind, and Digital Foundry released a YouTube video comparing these two versions of the game.
While both versions have some impressive qualities to be praised, Digital Foundry stated that the new version should be appreciated for resolving the shader compilation problem, moving to DirectX 12, providing support for ultra-wide and super-wide aspect ratios, and using Intel XeSS upscalers.
After all these, the video includes that the new God of War Ragnarok version is missing a lot of features, which has been making it worse than the console edition, specifically regarding the performance in Quality Mode.
Digital Foundry revealed that because the PC release is missing some in-game elements like the cube map tracing system, the game runs better on PS5 when in Quality Mode. Even portal transitions are smoother on the console than PC. According to the video analysis, the PC version has performance issues on Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.
Of course, PlayStation players didn’t miss this chance to tease PC gamers about the former group getting the better version of the game.
God of War Ragnarok Will Look Better on PS5 Pro Than PC
As the performance analysis was done and Digital Foundry highlighted all the important points, Jaydub Pro took this matter to X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote that while the base PS5 game looks better than the PC version, the PS5 Pro will certainly give a more improved performance with its higher specs.
This initiated an argument where PS5 players started mocking disappointed PC gamers.
PC players are really sad about getting this performance after waiting for two years.
Frustrated PC gamers even tried defending the platform by expressing the potential reason behind the game performing better on PS5.
PlayStation 5 Pro is coming this November with a list full of renowned titles that are going to get improved versions on this upcoming console edition.
However, even before the release, the console is getting into trouble, as Sony is suffering to stop scalpers.
They are constantly depriving authentic buyers of pre-ordering the console.
