Ever since Sony Interactive Entertainment showcased more details about its upcoming hero shooter Concord at May’s highly anticipated State of Play event, the reception to the video game has not been what the publisher may have been hoping for. As soon as the cinematic footage kicked off, community skepticism started to grow, as it felt like more of what gamers have seen plenty of times before, not really adding anything fresh to the oversaturated genre.

While developer Firewalk Studios prepares to launch its debut title next month, the concerns from the PlayStation and PC players are only increasing, hurting the game before it even hits the shelves.

New Details About Concord Are Not Doing the Game Any Favors

With Sony set to continue dipping its feet into the live-service gaming market with Concord later this year, the general perception about the title is not really doing it any favors even before release.

To make matters worse, Firewalk Studios shared the PC specs required to play its upcoming video game’s Beta test earlier today, raising more eyebrows as the community feels like there is something odd about the revealed requirements.

Concord is gearing up to be a truly current-gen gaming experience, but the PC system requirements suggest otherwise, as gamers feel like the required specs are a bit too low for a title like this.

To put things into perspective, the bare Minimum settings for Concord will provide players with 1080P and 60FPS, requiring specifications such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB GPU and an Intel Core i7-8700K CPU. But it was the required specs to run the game at its highest Ultra settings that truly became the center of conversation.

Skepticism Around the Shooter Grows With Ultra Settings Reveal

It remains to be seen how Firewalk Studios will use the power of Unreal Engine 5.

Gaming has evolved drastically as years have passed, and a lot of it is owed to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, which has provided developers with the necessary tools to unleash their creativity to their highest potentials, at least for the time being.

So considering that Concord is using the power of the same engine to create the ultimate shooter experience, the required PC specifications to play the game at its Ultra settings are not sitting right with some members of the community.

Similar sentiments are shared by other gamers as well, stating that the Ultra specs feel a bit too good to be true, raising suspicions about what Firewalk Studios has in store for players.

With great power come greater spec requirements, and gamers expected that a live-service shooter of this scale that has been created using Unreal Engine 5 would have required higher specifications than other titles.

Following in the newly introduced tradition that PlayStation will follow with its live-service titles, Concord will launch on PS5 and PC simultaneously on August 23, and only the upcoming Beta weekend will make things clearer about the game’s offerings.
