“This entire mode is an insult to the players…”: Season 4 Reloaded’s New Zombies Mode Has Annoyed Call of Duty Fans in a Big Way
Modern Warfare 3 Zombies gets a new mission, but players find it an insult.
Since it was released, Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has created a separate fanbase where players keep grinding on the Urzikstan map to explore all the secrets and complete missions. Zombies is one of the most popular game modes in the Call of Duty franchise. Despite several controversies and issues, the popularity of the mode never really decreased, but a recent patch note has changed this scenario to a great extent.
Call of Duty games often get new seasonal updates, and Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 has received a mid-season update where Activision has added some new content to the Zombies mode, which almost instantly started getting negative reactions from the fans.
Activision Has Offended Players With Its Latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Update as They Consider It Insult
The Call of Duty mid-season update has brought multiple new pieces of content to Modern Warfare 3, but the one that has drawn the attention of players specifically is Unstable Rifts. These new areas challenge players to dive into the hardest missions of the Zombies mode, where they need to fight five enemy waves within 45 minutes without dying.
This mission is hard. Though the Unstable Rifts give 45 minutes to complete it, during this time, five high-density zombie waves will spawn, and each of them will have a boss to defeat aside from the regular zombies. Once all five waves are cleared, an exfil portal will appear to take players out of the mission.

The first two waves will spawn an HVT as a boss, while the third and fourth waves will spawn Stormcaller and HVT, respectively. The boss of the fifth wave is reportedly a Disciple, whom players can damage only after the HVTs that spawn along with it are killed.
Players didn’t like this mode of challenge at all, and they expressed their frustration by calling this mode an insult to the players.
Some players stated that the Zombies mode is dead.
Players accused Zombies of losing content.
These Unstable Rifts are, however, not activated automatically. These rifts require players to activate them to dive into the mission.
Finding and Activating Unstable Rifts Are Real Tasks for Players as They Differ From Other Rift Activating Processes
Aside from the challenging enemy waves, another thing that annoyed players about the Unstable Rift was its location and the activating process. A lot of players haven’t yet figured out the process of locating these rifts. The process is lengthy, which once again causes their frustration.

Currently, these Rifts can only be spawned after players locate and activate three pillars on the map. Unfortunately, these pillars spawn randomly every match, and roaming around the map is the only option to find and activate them.
Even after finding them, players need the exact ammo mod shown on the pillar, like Brain Rot, Cryo Freeze, Dead Wire, Napalm Blast, etc., to activate them. Once all these pillars are activated, a red circle will be marked on the map, hinting at the location of the Unstable Rift. As sources report, completing this Unstable Rift mission will mark the Survivor weapon camo, and the cooldown timer for every weapon and equipment will reset.
Call of Duty controversies are kind of never-ending, with each new update bringing something new that players dislike. After the Black Ops 6 download size issue, once again players mocked Activision for a playlist modifier that looks more like Minecraft than Call of Duty.
