NPCs are an integral part of Elden Ring, and if you remember, this FromSoftware game is renowned for its NPC questlines that are sometimes mandatory to progress through the story, or sometimes, these NPC quests can be skipped. Shadow of the Erdtree has followed this tradition from the base game and introduced a range of NPCs who can offer players quests once they interact with these characters. Thiollier is among them.
Thiollier’s questline is a series of side tasks that players can do or simply skip. Nothing will change if you skip this questline, but of course, you will miss some interactions and activities. However, if you have decided to complete these tasks, you need to start by finding this NPC to get the quests.
Shadow of the Erdtree Thiollier’s Location and Other Details of the Quest
Thioller’s questline goes simultaneously with the main story and never bumps into it. However, doing all the steps correctly will provide players with rewards that may help them in their further journey. So, if you have been looking for Thioller, you must make your way to the Pillar Path Cross Site of Lost Grace. This location can be spotted earlier as it is part of the Gravesite Plains.
To reach the location, start progressing toward the north side of the region and cross the Ensis Greatbridge. Once you are on the other side, turn right and start progressing. This road will lead you to the Castle Front Site of Grace. From there, choose the path going southeast, and when you come to the divider section, turn left. Eventually, this path will take you to Miquella’s Cross, at the end of the road, and next to it, players will locate Thiollier.
This will be the first encounter with this NPC, but this won’t trigger the quest. There are a few more steps to begin the quest and complete it.

Once you have met Thiollier for the first time, it’s time to head to Main Gate Cross and interact with Moore. This location will be spotted outside the Belurat Tower Settlement dungeon. This NPC will give you an item that you need to give to Thiollier. So, again, visit the location where you met Thiollier previously and give the item to him. Once the interaction ends, start progressing towards the south of the Cerulean Coast. Here, you will locate the Fissure Site of Lost Grace.
As soon as you reach there, an alert will come, telling you that somewhere a great rune has broken. That’s an indication of the beginning of Thiollier’s quest. The next step is to enter the cave and start exploring it until you reach the end of the cave and locate St. Trina. Once you get close to the NPC, the option of imbibing nectar will come. As soon as you do that, you will be killed. After you respawn, keep doing it until you hear the NPC telling you to kill Miquella to stop her from becoming a god.
Come out and report the location of St. Trina to Thiollier. Players will find him again at the same location where they met him twice. He won’t believe you completely, anyway, and will be determined to meet St. Trina himself. So, the next time, when you reach St. Trina, you will find Thiollier next to her, trying to get a response from her. When you appear, he will prevent you from imbibing nectar from her. He will claim that it should be him, not you.
As a reason, he will state that doing it may put you into a deep slumber that won’t break ever. At this point, inform Thiollier about what St. Trina said about Miquella. He won’t believe you and will get angry. Tell him those words once again, and he will get more angry. At this point, the apparently harmless NPC will become an aggressive enemy who will attack you when you rest at the Site of Lost Grace.

This enemy is comparatively easy, with not many tough moves to deal with. This fight will take a few seconds, and once you defeat Thiollier, get back to St. Trina. Once again, Thioliier will be there, requesting that you tell him the truth. Convey those words once again. Again, this NPC will refuse to believe your words, but he won’t harm you anymore. This time, you will find him questioning his beliefs.
This quest is not done; keep progressing through the game, and you will eventually reach the final boss fight of the game, which is the Promised Consort Radahn fight. For this fight, players can summon multiple allies, and Thiollier must be one of them. Unfortunately, he won’t survive this fight, but after the battle is done, you can get a Hidden Needle and Armor Set from his corpse.
After all these are done, you can get back to St. Trina to tell her about the unfortunate death of Thiollier. You won’t get the chance anyway, as you will find her dead. Collect St. Trina’s Blossom from her body and attach it to your helmet. Once attached, whenever you wear the helmet, your max HP will get a boost.
That’s everything players must know to complete Thiollier’s questline in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree. This questline is a bit lengthy and complicated, but it is interesting as well. Without starting his quest, you can’t summon him to fight the final boss of the game. The ending of this questline is pathetic, though.
