SUMMARY

  • Though consoles will always be the priority, PlayStation's CEO revealed that the company is willing to deliver titles to other devices, especially PC.
  • This has made PS players worried about the future of PlayStation gaming.

PC gaming is gaining more popularity with each passing day. With loads of renowned titles to access through Steam and Epic Games, PC gaming has created a stable market that is only going upward with each new release. Even the PlayStation CEO can’t deny this slow but steady rise of PC games building a strong base in gaming.

PlayStation has been occupying a substantial part of the gaming industry, leaving potent competitors behind. However, the gaming market is ever-evolving. At this point, when Sony is ready to launch its new console edition, it is also planning to expand its fanbase in a strange way, which has raised some obvious questions among the PS players.

Sony has a strategy to extend its business further, which concerns the PlayStation 5 players.

PC and PlayStation are technically rivals. They fight to capture the same market. However, PlayStation’s price range for PS5 Pro has recently made gamers a bit angry at Sony, and many of them opined that, instead, they should set up a PC.

This should be a big concern for Sony. However, the CEO, Hideaki Nishino, seems to be unmoved. Him taking this matter lightly is still normal, but his further plans are surely not simple.

Him pushing for more PC coverage raises a big question about the future of PlayStation gaming. While Sony trying to expand PlayStation’s gaming market is normal, the CEO expressed that it’s planning to launch games on PC.

In an interview, he expressed that Sony is trying to expand the overall market by releasing more titles on PC. Though the core focus will always be the home consoles, the range of the audience can’t be widened without “offering titles for devices other than home consoles.

This is not the first time a Sony CEO expressed this opinion. Previously, Kenichiro Yoshida revealed something similar during his interview with Norges Bank Investment Management.

In this session, he clearly stated that Sony has plans to expand the business to PC, mobile, and cloud. These continuous pushes to PC are making PS players worried about PlayStation gaming in the future.

PlayStation Players Shared Their Sarcastic Yet Upsetting Thoughts

Sony’s consistent emphasis on PC is making PS players worried about console gaming.

Despite Hideaki Nishino mentioning that the core focus of the company will always be home consoles, players are not convinced looking at the way Sony is emphasizing expanding its business to PC.

Therefore, a lot of them are assuming that Sony is probably going to shift to PC business in the future.

Some of them are convinced that eventually, PS+ will come to PC if Sony keeps doing this.

Some of them even expressed that in the future, PC will be the only choice left for players.

PlayStation players are reacting the way they should after hearing an update like this.

This is alarming for them if Sony starts releasing games on PC rather than PS.

The PS5 Pro is coming this November. Maybe this console changes the scenario to some extent, as its disc drive is already breaking records even before the console is released.
