Call of Duty needs a win after some less-than-ideal years, and if there’s one title that can bring it back on track, it’s Black Ops. Most of the entries developed by Treyarch have been met with positive reception, with the earlier games considered to be some of the greatest first-person shooter experiences that Activision has offered. So naturally, all eyes have been on the next installment, which was rumored to be called Black Ops Gulf War a while ago.

However, it was later reported that the upcoming entry could be called Black Ops 6, and with the latest teaser, things are starting to gain momentum for Treyarch’s next effort.

The Next Call of Duty’s Teaser Starts With an Old TV

The fate of the Call of Duty franchise rests on the upcoming Black Ops instalment.

Like all things related to Call of Duty, the teaser for the upcoming Black Ops game was also first spotted by CharlieIntel, suggesting that Treyarch may be ready to bring the glory days back to the franchise.

Taking an unconventional route to tease the anticipated title, the post includes a link to a website, which, upon opening, lets the users know that “the truth lies.”

That’s followed by something even more cryptic but creative, as an old television appears with a static screen.

The TV comes with a set of interactive options, including volume adjustments, changing the channels, and three additional buttons for Power, Recording, and Pause. Another aspect that suggests why this could be the Black Ops 6 teaser is that the television set has six channels. And upon pressing the REC button in the middle, a video file starts playing.

The Teaser for Black Ops 6 Features a Vandalized Mt. Rushmore

The Black Ops sub-series can redeem the first-person shooter franchise after the disappointing Modern Warfare 3 fiasco.

The live-action footage kicks off in a dark environment, as some individuals have Mt. Rushmore in their focus as they try to get to it despite the signs telling them not to proceed further.

Shot from a first-person perspective with found footage elements, the group hikes towards the monument, obviously up to no good as the members get away in a car as soon as they complete their mission. It turns out that their objective was to vandalize Mt. Rushmore, as all four monumental faces have masks over their eyes, with three of them reading “THE TRUTH LIES” and the last one having a very familiar logo.

Just last month, Xbox officially revealed that it will hold its Games Showcase on June 9, which is to be followed by a special reveal, and in that post, the same logo made its first appearance. Which could mean that Black Ops 6 will be properly revealed much sooner than expected, take center stage during the upcoming Microsoft event, and possibly be a Day One launch on Game Pass.

Regardless, considering that fans still reminisce about how much better Call of Duty used to be back in its Black Ops period, the next installment has plenty riding on its shoulders.
