The First Descendant Gets a Dose of Pokemon and We Want More
Taking on vicious alien creatures while dressed as your favorite Pokémon might sound outlandish unless you're playing The First Descendant.
It’s been a little more than a month since The First Descendant has been released for players on current and previous-gen platforms. With its MMORPG mechanics working in tandem with a great overarching narrative, the game has been a great title for Nexon Korea and an excellent addition to the genre with an addictive and exciting gameplay loop.
While the game’s potential for creating a unique build for a player’s character has been a highlight of its experience, fans of The First Descendant have been finding creative ways to bring in cosplays from other popular media to the game, adding a layer of humor and fun to its more serious premise.
The First Descendant’s Excellent RPG Elements
Although creative builds take center stage in The First Descendant, allowing players to embody the titular Descendants in their fight against the Vulgus, a very hostile alien race that is intent on wiping out all traces of humanity from the game’s world, that does not mean that players must compromise on their character’s fashion sense.

The game allows for the customization of player skins found in the game with various Paints on offer, allowing for the creation of some truly unique cosplays. One particular player has managed to recreate a very popular character from Pokemon using a combination of Paints and player skins to hilarious effect.
Bringing Pokemon to Nexon’s Game
The Pokemon in question is none other than Cubone, a rather tragic but powerful creature in Pokemon’s universe that wears its mother’s skull on its head. While the skull may seem like a sad reminder, it also gives Cubone a lot of power from the tears it sheds.
SUGGESTED: NEXON has a Huge Hit on Its Hands With The First Descendant Launching to Massive Numbers on Steam
The Reddit post below showcases how one player managed to create a Cubone cosplay using one of the available skins for Lepic, a fan-favorite character in The First Descendant, and some of the available Paint options to create the look.
Responses to their post from other players appreciate the effort and creativity behind such cosplays, highlighting how several other Pokemon have made it to the game so far.
Other players were quick to point out that Cubone wears its mother’s skull and brought a bit of humor to the conversation.
Another player had a suggestion for a Pokemon that looks similar to Cubone but without the grim reminder of its tragic past on display at all times.
It’s evident that players are having a lot of fun with The First Descendant, buying into its premise and RPG elements just as Nexon probably hoped that they would.
The company would certainly hope that its title continues to generate more creativity among its players even as they continue to engage with its excellent combat system and mechanics in their fight against the Vulgus.
