There’s no shortage of fighters on TEKKEN 8’s roster, but even with 32 characters present in the base game, there’s always room for more familiar faces to make appearances in the latest installment of the fighting franchise. Bandai Namco has provided a roadmap for the game’s first season, which is set to mark the current-gen debuts of four returning characters, and recently, a TEKKEN icon who goes by the name of Eddy Gordo made his way into the title.

However, earlier this month, TEKKEN 8 announced who the second DLC character’s going to be, and with a gameplay trailer that features karate skills at their best, she can’t show up in the game soon enough.

Although Lidia Sobieska, the Prime Minister of Poland in the TEKKEN universe, has made her debut in the series before, she didn’t have enough time to become a fleshed-out character with interesting motivations.

Instead, her first appearance was as a DLC character in the fourth and last season of TEKKEN 7, and this time around, she has climbed up the ranks and is set to be a playable fighter in TEKKEN 8’s Season 1. Similar to how she was accompanied by a stage called Seaside Resort in the previous installment, it’s also coming back as a proper fighting arena and not just a minigame location for TEKKEN Ball.

In the gameplay trailer for Lidia Sobieska, fans get an extensive look at what to expect from the character’s fighting mechanics, which revolve around her karate style. Regarding how she fits into the lore of TEKKEN 8, it seems like she’s prepared to do everything in her power to protect her country, Poland, and its people, and considering how Kazuya Mishima’s been on a global domination spree, the Polish Prime Minister’s inclusion feels natural.

The gameplay trailer also revealed a couple of special interactions that The Warrior Prime Minister will have with some of the existing characters on the roster. She first interacts with none other than the protagonist of TEKKEN 8, Jin Kazama, but this encounter has a sense of respect around it. Jin acknowledges Lidia Sobieska’s strength, and as the Polish Prime Minister returns the same sentiments, they respectfully bow down to one another before beginning their sparring session.

Her second interaction is with a less friendly member of Heihachi Mishima’s family, Reina, which becomes more hostile as Sobieska gets hit by a “sucker punch” and calls the opponent a coward for making the unexpected move.

The karate expert also takes a page out of her fellow TEKKEN 8 DLC character’s book and transports her enemies into another dimension during her Rage Art, presented in a spectacularly unique way.

TEKKEN 8 was on our must-play games of the year list, and with each new update, it keeps proving why it completely deserved the spot.
