Sony Announces the Next PlayStation State of Play, Set to Feature 14 Games
So it is not the Showcase after all.
Previously expected to be another installment of the PlayStation Showcase, it turns out that the next major event by Sony Interactive Entertainment is going to be a State of Play. When it comes to Sony’s first-party studios, things have been pretty quiet recently, which begs the question of what developers like Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games have been up to since their latest releases.
The announcement regarding the upcoming event has appeared out of nowhere, as Sony revealed that it will be airing live very soon, and with plenty of expectations from the player base, it has the potential to end May on the highest possible note.
The Upcoming PlayStation State of Play Will Air Tomorrow
Although the State of Play is not as massive in scale or as long as the annual Showcase, it is still quite a major event when it comes to revealing upcoming PlayStation titles and what players can expect from them.
Recently, there had been rumors circulating among the gaming community that just in time for the Summer Games Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase, Sony was going to launch its own event to try and take the lead. However, earlier today, Sony officially confirmed that the highly anticipated event will be State of Play and will be airing live tomorrow on Thursday.
The event is scheduled to air at 3pm PT, 6pm ET, and 11pm BST on May 30 and is set to provide much-needed updates on what fans can look forward to on the PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 platforms. Sony also announced that it will finally unveil what some of its first-party studios have been working on and what its release slate looks like for the rest of the year.
The Event Will Be 30 Minutes Long and Show Various Titles
In addition to the airing date and times for the upcoming State of Play, Sony also confirmed that the event will be more than 30 minutes long and is set to feature 14 video games.
While it has not been shared which studios will be showcasing their games at the next PlayStation event, fans could finally get a first look at the new game that Naughty Dog has been developing.
Aside from that, considering how little is actually known about the title except for its sci-fi and community-driven nature, Sony could also give a more extensive look at its live-service multiplayer title, Concord.
Of course, discussions about what games will be featured at State of Play are still purely speculative, but for now, fans who do not want to miss it should note that the event will be streaming on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok.
