“Should have either enforced this from the beginning…”: Helldivers 2’s Fight for Democracy Grinding to a Halt as Gamers Run from New Enforcement Rules
Helldivers 2 fans going through a threat of losing the game. Let's find out the reason and reaction for it.
Helldivers 2 has already reached the peak of its popularity. Since the game was released, it has traveled through ups and downs—sometimes for the gameplay mechanics, otherwise for its surprising announcements and updates. These announcements and updates have often caused trouble for the players, and again, a shining example of this has been shared by the official Twitter account of Helldivers 2.
After the initial release, the game was a total mess that Arrowhead has fixed over the past few months with new updates. Now that the game has come to a more stable and enjoyable condition, once again, the team has announced a rule to make them annoyed. Specifically, this news has shocked the PC players.
Helldivers 2 Officially Reminded Players About the Ending of the “Grace Period,” Causing Resentment Among Players
The Helldivers 2 community is an active community with something always going on. However, no one probably expected the recent announcement where the team announced linking all PC accounts of the game to PlayStation accounts. The official post reveals, “Due to technical issues at the launch of HELLDIVERS™ 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire.”
To cut a long story short, the announcement says, all PC players now need to link their PC accounts to PSN. That’s mandatory to continue their Helldivers 2 journeys on PC. While new players need to start following this rule on May 6, existing players will get a little more time to complete the process by June 4.
Previously, this was an optional thing, but now PC players become clueless about this matter, and a player, @ZhugeEX, released his frustration on Twitter, saying, “This isn’t an unusual ask, but it is unusual months after release. Should have either enforced this from the beginning or they should have a 1 click solution in place.”
Another player agrees with him and expresses that they should have done it in the beginning if they were going to do it.
Even some frustrated players ask for refunds after this announcement went live.
Some directly mentioned that they will uninstall the game after this.
Some players accused Arrowhead and Sony of “killing” the game with these updates.
Fans even frustratedly attacked Sony for interrupting their “Liberty.”
Even a few players clearly refused to obey this account-linking rule.
Well, after all this, a piece of exciting news is still there to make the Helldivers happy.
Helldivers 2 Is About to Take Players for a Chilling Cold In-Game Experience
Updates and the arrival of new items and content are almost a regular thing in Helldivers 2. However, at the beginning of May, Arrowhead announced their plan to bring some winter vibes to the game through a trailer that reveals glimpses of the upcoming premium Warbond. According to the trailer, this will go live on May 9, 2024.
This is Warbond is going to launch a snow-covered area, along with new primary and secondary weapons. Among the primary weapons, Helldivers are going to get the AR-61 Tenderizer, PLAS-101 Purifier, and SMG-72 Pummeler. The secondary weapons include G-13 Incendiary Impact, P-113 Verdict, and Motivational Shocks.
That’s not everything. The upcoming Warbond is bringing some exciting and unique winter capes for the players. Among the new capes, players will find, Dissident’s Nightmare, Pinions of Everlasting Glory, and Order of the Venerated Ballot.
The trailer is giving a soothing and chilling vibe already. Still, there’s time to check how it feels to fight enemies in these polar areas of the game.
