Rocksteady Returns to Where It’s Great, but Will Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Be Canon?
After seven months of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's launch, Rocksteady Studios is reportedly preparing a return with Batman: Arkham.
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is one of the biggest failures of 2024, which has caused Rocksteady to return to its most popular series once again.
- Though the studio hasn't stated anything about the upcoming game, leaks suggest that it is working on the next Batman: Arkham installment.
- Even after creating an outstanding Batman universe, fans can't trust Rocksteady anymore with the upcoming Arkham game.
Rocksteady Studios is reportedly preparing for a grand revival. After the massive downfall of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the studio is trying to reclaim its lost glory and fanbase in the most expected way. Leaks suggest Rocksteady is returning to the series that fans have never rejected since it was started.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was one of the hyped games released in February 2024. After its release, gamers almost immediately got disillusioned about it, and that was clearly reflected in the 3.4 Metacritic user score. To win this fanbase back, the studio is returning to its strong zone once again.
Rocksteady Studios Is Trying to Make a Return With Batman: Arkham
After the tragic fall of its last game, Rocksteady has been quiet for a long time, with no update coming from the studio about its upcoming projects. Anyway, that doesn’t really stop speculation and leaks about what the next game players may expect from the studio.
Rumors about the next Batman project being developed have been in the air for a long time. Recently, a statement from a renowned leaker has stirred these rumors once again. Recently, on X (formerly Twitter), XboxEra’s Shpeshal Nick shared this thought by tagging a post from The Game Awards.
The initial post asked about the studio gamers want to see making the next Batman game. In reply, Nick revealed that he’s not sure about others, but he heard about Rocksteady working on a Batman game. Along with that, he expressed that, as per his thoughts, Sony is also on that project, trying to secure the exclusivity of the game.
After 2015’s Arkham Knight, Rocksteady Studios hasn’t worked on any mainline Batman: Arkham game in the last nine years. Therefore, this should be massively exciting news for Batman fans, but the reactions state that they haven’t yet gotten over the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League shock.
Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Becomes the Standard to Judge Its Work
Rocksteady Studios set the standard for Batman games in 2009 with Arkham Asylum. The dark environment blended perfectly with the storytelling method of the game.
Later, the glorious tradition continued with each Batman: Arkham game it developed up to Arkham Knight. This series included some of the most iconic villains, like The Joker, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, etc. However, things have changed with the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
It seems like players have made it the standard to judge the abilities of the studio, and they lost complete faith in its game development skills. Now, they don’t even expect to get a good Batman game from Rocksteady.
Some players clearly stated that the Rocksteady that used to develop Batman games is long gone.
Fans assumed this game would be another big failure even before the official announcement and any trailers.
Whether Rocksteady is really bringing a Batman: Arkham game or not isn’t yet sure, as no official confirmation has yet been released.
Until then, everything is a rumor.
However, even if it is in progress, it is a challenge for the studio to reach where it was before Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s release.
