Meet Stone, the Explosives Expert

You find Stone at the Port Town in the Third Sea. He is a Level 1550 boss who is part of the Horned Man Quest that you can pick up on the Floating Turtle Island in the same area of the game.

As one of the first bosses on a long list to complete this quest, Stone drops a generous cache of rewards once you defeat him, making it worth your while to take on the above quest before you seek him out. Once you do, make sure you come prepared to dodge fast and consistently with a Fruit that gives you as much speed as you can manage.

Stone has two main attacks that come from the Bomb Fruit that he carries. Get too close, and he triggers an area-of-effect (AoE) explosion that deals a ton of damage while knocking you back. This is where quick dodges come in, as you can bait out this attack to position yourself for a strong counterattack with some high-damage melee combos.

Managing your Energy well is paramount to this strategy’s success, as running out of it risks being caught in the AoE explosion that can easily take you out of the fight. At range, Stone launches projectiles that seek you out before detonating when they are in range. Dodging and staying mobile are the best ways to deal with this attack. Note that you can try and find your way to Stone when the projectiles are launched for some melee attacks but risk the AoE explosion.

Hit-and-run tactics work best for melee players, while ranged players can simply stay out of harm’s way while taking every opportunity to launch attacks of their own. The fight against Stone comes down to managing your Energy between dodges and attacks in order to bring him down.

Defeating Stone as part of the Horned Man Quest drops 60,000,000 EXP and $25,000, while subsequent fights against him net you 9,000,000 EXP and $1,000 each time. However, we recommend a few levels on your character before you begin farming out higher rewards in the Third Sea.
