Call of Duty almost always manages to surround itself with controversy that arises as soon as new details are revealed about any of its titles. Regardless of the high anticipation levels that have been following Black Ops 6, even the game that was supposed to bring the series back on track couldn’t escape the fate that usually accompanies each release.

But this time, Activision took things into its own hands to clarify that there’s been a misunderstanding, and things aren’t as bad as players may have thought.

Call of Duty Clears the Air to Avoid Further Misunderstanding

It seems like Call of Duty fans were worried for absolutely no reason, as Activision clarifies the storage space scenario.

Call of Duty is no stranger to massive file sizes that require players to delete most of their other games to install a single Activision title, especially in recent times.

However, after an extensive look at Xbox Games Showcase, it didn’t take long for fans to rethink their decisions about getting the game when it launches in a few months.

File sizes of over 100 GB aren’t surprising in modern gaming, and players have even witnessed required storage spaces of more than 200 GB, but as reports of Black Ops 6 taking up north of 300 GB of space emerged, Activision decided to clear the air.

The Black Ops installment is currently in its preorder phase, and the developers want to ensure that everyone’s aware of the confusion that’s been spreading around regarding the game. It turns out that the actual file size for Treyarch’s comeback hasn’t been calculated yet, as the one on the title’s preorder pages doesn’t just include Black Ops 6.

Since Activision’s series has been trying to connect every new installment with each other, including Modern Warfare 3, these titles will also be included in the 300GB+ installation size.

Fans Won’t Need to Download the Other Games to Play Black Ops 6

Activision will not force anyone to download Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone if one wants to solely enjoy the new Black Ops game.

Knowing its players and the never-ending criticism that accompanies it, Activision clarified that fans looking forward to Black Ops 6 won’t have to download any of the Modern Warfare games or Warzone to play the title.

The language packs that’ll be coming with the game can also be avoided for those players who want to steer clear of the massive installation size.

For now, it remains to be seen just how big the upcoming Call of Duty title’s going to be, as fans will have to wait for a few more months to find out exactly how much storage space they should free up to jump into the Black Ops installment.

In an effort to reduce the file size for Black Ops 6, an internet connection has been made mandatory even for modes like Campaign, so it wouldn’t have been the ideal situation for the players if they were still required to clear more than 300 GB of space for one game.
