The gaming world is an ever-changing one, with familiar scenarios rapidly evolving. This thing affects popular gaming platforms, especially consoles. While the Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass issues have already been going on, it seems like PlayStation Plus has joined the queue. PlayStation Plus’s rapidly decreasing popularity has become a major concern for Sony.

PlayStation is one of the most renowned gaming consoles, with hundreds of games released on it every year. Like other consoles, PlayStation also has a subscription service called PS Plus, which offers players different subscription packs to play many renowned games. But a recent report has revealed the time is not going well for PS Plus.

PS Plus Has Become a Major Concern for Sony Due to Its Rapid Downfall

PS Plus has been going through a tough time, as it has started losing players rapidly and reached its lowest count in July.

Though subscription services are one of the best ways to experience loads of games without purchasing them, a recent trend shows players are no longer interested in these subscription services.

To provide a piece of solid evidence to prove this point, TrueTrophies did a survey worldwide, and the PlayStation Network data of the survey shows that PS Plus Extra and Premium games have shown 48% fewer players than the June 2024 lineup.

According to the data, even if the player counts in Days of Play games from June’s lineup were removed from the percentage, July still had an 18% player count drop. This rapid player count drop is a major issue of concern for Sony, as it happens even after Remnant 2 came to PS Plus service this month and became the third most popular game on PS Plus Extra.

Though Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 performed well on PS Plus, it still lacked 69.05% PS Plus players than the shooter. Combined, all these factors have worked against the PS Plus service and made July the weakest month for this subscription service this year.

PS Plus has added a few great games this month, but nothing really worked for it. However, Sony can still hope for the best with one of the upcoming games in September.

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions got its official trailer and Warner Bros. has confirmed that this game will be on PS Plus at launch.

Harry Potter is one of the widely famous fantasy novel series including witches and wizards. Last year, after Hogwarts Legacy received massive success, Warner Bros. focused on making an interesting game on the most popular sport of Hogwarts, Quidditch.

SUGGESTED: “The improvement in PS Plus…”: As Xbox Players React to Xbox Game Pass’ Price Hike, PS Plus Continues to Get Better in the Eyes of Fans

Irrespective of being the most popular game of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy missed Quidditch matches and competitions; therefore, when Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was announced, fans got crazy about playing it.

Finally, after more than a year, the official trailer for the game has been released with its scheduled release date of September 3, 2024, and the standard edition of the game will be available on PS Plus from Day 1. PlayStation Plus users can get the game and the Firebolt Supreme Broom skin until September 30.

Because the game has created massive hype, it may improve the PS Plus player count. However, players can start pre-ordering the game, and the latest trailer has revealed several renowned faces from the novel, which clearly shows why this is a separate game.
