Everybody loves a good revenge story. However, few get the chance to star in one. But that is exactly what happened to a Pokemon Go player whose daily walk around their neighborhood turned into a gleeful enactment of petty revenge.

Taking to Reddit to narrate the sequence of events, Reddit user Magik518 expressed their shock at how another player expressed their displeasure at them even as they were guilty of doing the very same thing that they were accusing them of.

A Pokemon Experience Like No Other

Pokemon Go has captured a very wide player base since its release in 2016. Developed by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, the game allows players to use their mobile devices to track down Pokemon in the real world and capture them for use in battles against other players with a steady stream of new content available for them to enjoy.

These battles are typically for control of Gyms, real-world locations that players must physically visit in order to defeat the Pokemon in them. The Gym in question remains in the player’s control until another player happens to defeat their Pokemon, collecting rewards in the process. While there is no specified amount of time for players to wait before attempting to capture a Gym, Magik518’s opponent certainly seemed to think so.

A Two Hour Long Teachable Moment

In their post on Reddit, Magik518 narrates the amusing story of how he captured a Gym at the beginning of his routine walk, only to find his Pokemon taken out within 12 minutes of capturing the location. You can view the post in its entirety here.

However, this wasn’t a problem to him as his route ended with him back at that very location, allowing him to knock out the player who had captured it. However, his opponent took issue with being knocked out, arguing that he should have waited at least 8 hours before recapturing the Gym to give them a chance to earn coins.

When questioned about the fact that their own rule didn’t seem to apply to them, they simply scoffed at him, proceeding to try capturing the gym again.

However, Magik518 was a step ahead, using a Golden Rasberry to heal their Pokemon for the next two hours, which allowed them to heal their Pokemon from the comfort of their home while their opponent, being at a much lower level than they were, was unable to claim the location for themselves.

The post drew a lot of positive reactions, with many fans of Pokemon Go agreeing with the fact that one could capture a Gym anytime they wanted – a fact that seemed lost on Magik518’s opponent.

One can only hope they learned their lesson, considering they had to learn it the hard way. Perhaps things could have gone differently if they had just asked nicely.
