Recently, Capcom talked about one of its most popular series that received its last entry in 2018. The Japanese developer has stated its plans to release regular installments of that specific series to make it active.
Capcom Is Considering Mega Man to Get Regular Entries With New Titles
Mega Man is undoubtedly one of the top games delivered by Capcom. Despite its immense popularity, this Japanese science fiction series never gets regular installments. Starting from 1987, up to 2024, this franchise has only a few main entries. So, naturally, gamers have a lot of curiosity about the Mega Man games.
During its recent 45th General Shareholders Meeting, the Mega Man topic was raised by the shareholders. They asked about Capcom’s future plans for this popular series, and in reply, the company revealed,
“Mega Man is one of our highly-valued IPs and we are considering how to create games for it on an ongoing basis.”
This news has made fans excited about getting a new Mega Man title. Though older titles of the franchise were re-released in recent years, after Mega Man 11 in 2018, no fresh entry was made.
Even during surveys, players often ask for Mega Man entries; therefore, this announcement is kind of a relief for them.
Fans Are Overwhelmed After Hearing About Capcom’s Mega Man Plans
Mega Man has a stable fan base despite its irregular releases. As of 2023, this franchise has sold over 40 million copies across the world, with lots of titles on different platforms. Therefore, fans asking for their favorite game is nothing surprising, especially when it comes to Mega Man. As soon as Capcom’s statement circulated on X, players expressed their willingness to experience a new title.
Players have started recalling when they played the game for the last time, while a group asked Capcom not to cancel Mega Man Legends 3.
A few players even opined that Resident Evil and Monster Hunter can’t be the only gaming franchises to define Capcom. Instead, Mega Man should be one of the defining gaming series created by this Japanese company. Rather, according to them, “They were Mega Man FIRST.”
