Ubisoft seems to be extra careful about its upcoming project after back-to-back failures this year. Up to September 2024, it released three titles, and all of them met similar fates. Therefore, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows has huge expectation pressure, and Ubisoft probably wants to make it as perfect as possible to avoid what other games have faced this year.

Initially, the game was announced to be released in November 2024, but with a recent update, Ubisoft announced a delay, which will push the release date three months away. Now, players have to wait a little more to get their hands on the game.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Faces an Unexpected Delay to Work on Some Key Features

After giving fans a lot of hope, Ubisoft declared a delay in Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ release.

2024 is one of the worst years in the history of Ubisoft. The company has faced a massive downfall that it never encountered in the last decade. At this point, the success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is kind of mandatory to turn the tables, and that’s probably the reason Ubisoft is not ready to take any risk with this game.

After PlayStation’s State of Play happened, the Assassin’s Creed Shadows team released a notice stating that the game would not be released in 2024. Instead, it is now going to be released on February 14, 2025.

Ubisoft explained that it is the “dream project” of the company that is bringing the story to feudal Japan, with new and upgraded features like parkour and stealth.

Additionally, the story is going to feature two protagonists. Therefore, as per the team, it needs more time to polish the game to provide the community with a rich experience.

Recently, Ubisoft has canceled all the shows for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Not only has it pulled the game from the Tokyo Game Show, but it has also canceled all the press previews of the game without stating any specific reason.

Ubisoft Promises to Refund All Pre-orders Along With Some Additional Benefits

Previous experiences seem to have forced Ubisoft to become more careful about the upcoming game.

The pre-order process for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been going on since August, and thousands of players have pre-ordered the game already. This delayed release date is naturally a cause of anxiety for many of them.

Considering this, Ubisoft has declared that it will refund all the pre-orders and placed an exciting deal. When the next time the process begins, if players pre-order the game, they will get the first expansion of Assassin’s Creed Shadows for free.

Also, it confirmed that the game will be released on multiple platforms simultaneously, and of course, PC players can get it on Steam at launch.

While the developer is giving hope to players about a memorable experience, it seems like gamers are also trusting the promise and not blaming Ubisoft for the delay.

Getting a good game after some delay is still better than getting an unfinished game. After multiple failures, Ubisoft probably realized this fact.

If Assassin’s Creed Shadows faces the same fate as Skull and Bones, Star Wars Outlaws, and XDefiant, it will be tough for the company to save its existence in the competitive gaming market.
