Not Every Shadow of the Erdtree Fan Is Happy With the Lackluster and Poor Ending of the Elden Ring DLC
Shadow of the Erdtree reached the hype it created, but at some points, the expansion failed to satisfy players, and the ending was the best example.
- Shadow of the Erdtree was hugely successful, but still, it lacked some features that players expected in the DLC.
- Though Elden Ring had proper, convincing endings, the expansion ended abruptly without giving the narrative a satisfactory conclusion.
- Players expected a lot from the DLC and had high hopes about the ending, which instantly shattered when they reached the climax.
Shadow of the Erdtree was released around two months ago, and this expansion drew a massive number of players. Well, players were not solely interested in the game because of its storyline, but mostly they were interested in the DLC because of the exceptional success of the base game. Though the initial reaction was overwhelming, gradually, players have been stating their dissatisfaction.
While playing a story-based game, players not only expect to get a well-knitted narrative but also a convincing ending. When Elden Ring was released, it provided players with everything they wanted, but it seems like Shadow of the Erdtree failed at some points. As a consequence, players are questioning the ending the game has.
Elden Ring Fans Are Disappointed With the Ending of Shadow of the Erdtree
Gamers who have played Elden Ring will unanimously agree to the point that it is one of the best works of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s career. Therefore, the expectations from the DLC were so high that, as soon as the wave of initial excitement had pacified, players started complaining about certain in-game features.
Above all, they have been complaining about the ending of the DLC. After multiple challenging boss fights and not too many cutscenes to understand the story, when they finally reached the climax, it was kind of incomplete. Basically, the expansion has no proper ending. After the final boss fight was done, players would see a memory left behind by the boss.
It was a memory of Miquella that took them through different glimpses, and that’s where the game ends. This is not at all what the players expected. After months, players are still unhappy with it, and a few days ago, mayonnaiser_13 brought it to Reddit and asked what kind of ending it is.
After finishing the DLC, the disillusioned player mentioned,
“No dialogue, no cutscene, just a single memory that you will literally miss if the screen is a bit brighter because it just melds in the background, nothing from Trina, nothing from Ansbach, not even a sliver of something within the base game.”
Though this controversy is not new, players still arrived as soon as they saw the post to state what they expected and how they were disappointed.
Elden Ring Players Expected Something More Stunning From Hidetaka Miyazaki
Though Shadow of the Erdtree has loads of things to praise, there are multiple aspects that FromSoftware messed up. Even if a group of players opined that DLCs don’t have proper endings, this thing didn’t stand up for long, with more fans stating the opposite.
As the Reddit post arrived, it seems like players have been expecting a lot from the DLC, and they had high standards set for the ending of Shadow of the Erdtree.
However, their hopes shattered heavily with the memory offering them nothing. Most of them claimed it showed them what they already knew.
Of course, this has broken their hearts, but Elden Ring fans haven’t lost faith in FromSoftware or Miyazaki to bring something exceptional in the future.
However, there’s more that Hidetaka Miyazaki needs to encounter, as players are now demanding answers for ignoring one vital group of enemies in Elden Ring.
