“Nintendo has my money”: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Is Switching up the Formula, and Fans Can’t Wait
The princess is taking center stage in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, as she has to be the one doing the saving now.
- For the very first time in The Legend of Zelda's history, the princess is headlining her own mainline video game.
- With Link now being the one who has to be saved, Zelda will use the power of the echoes to save her usual savior.
- Fans have already pre-ordered Echoes of Wisdom, putting complete belief in Nintendo's ability to deliver a quality experience.
There are very few video game franchises that have managed to achieve the iconic status that The Legend of Zelda has been constantly enjoying for a very long time. With each new mainline installment, the series gets bigger and better, and while other major consoles like PlayStation and Xbox keep competing with one another in the gaming industry, Nintendo and its fans keep prospering in their own lane with exclusive titles like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
And it looks like the upcoming Echoes of Wisdom is all set to continue the franchise’s winning streak, even as it switches up the general formula that the series usually follows.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Puts the Titular Princess in Control of the Situation
While the name of the franchise has always been somewhat of a confusing concept to those unfamiliar with the lore, The Legend of Zelda’s fanbase knows that the titular princess has almost always been the one who has to get saved by protagonist Link.
But Nintendo is switching things up in the upcoming installment and putting Zelda in the spotlight in Echoes of Wisdom, as she takes on the protagonist mantle and has to be the savior this time around. Announced just a couple of months ago for the Switch during Nintendo Direct, this will be the very first time that a mainline title in the series is letting the princess take control of the situation, breaking the stereotypical damsel-in-distress approach of the franchise and trying something fresh.
Naturally, along with the princess finally being able to create her own Legend of Zelda, the protagonist will not be using the typical sword and shield that usually accompany Link on his adventures, as she will be able to use a brand new mechanic called “echoes” to survive the harsh world of Hyrule.
The Zelda Fandom Is Really Looking Forward to a Mainline Title Trying Something New
The change to the series’ iconic protagonist and weapons is not the only thing that Echoes of Wisdom is bringing, as it is also taking a detour from the art and gameplay style of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom by adapting the way in which Nintendo handled Link’s Awakening in 2019.
All of these aspects combined, along with the franchise’s recent highly successful track record, are making fans extremely excited for the upcoming installment, resulting in them continuing to put their faith in Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda.
The Zelda games are no stranger to critical and commercial acclaim, garnering numerous awards and breaking several records whenever a new entry is launched, resulting in the fanbase being completely comfortable with going the extra mile for Echoes of Wisdom and not having to worry about its potential quality.
With still just under a month to go before the next title launches, the excitement levels of its fandom are testament to the amazing reputation that Nintendo has created around The Legend of Zelda.
While unexpected successes like Helldivers 2 took over the gaming industry in the first half of 2024, it won’t be too surprising to witness Echoes of Wisdom become a standout hit when it launches on September 26.
