“My freedom? Escalated”: Helldivers 2 DLC of Sorts Comes in Massive Update With All Sorts of New Content
Helldivers 2 is getting a DLC-like update with almost everything fans desired.
Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest hits of 2024. Despite new controversies now and then and losing a substantial number of players, this game has been maintaining a stable fanbase. No one can deny that Arrowhead works hard to improve this third-person shooter game, but it’s been almost six months and no major update or DLC for Helldivers 2 has been released.
While players have been asking for a major update or a DLC to fulfill all their demands related to new missions, enemies, etc., for a long time, the developer seems to have listened to them, and a new update has been announced to bring a whole lot of new content to the game.
Helldivers 2 Is Bringing the Biggest Update Since It Was Released With a Bunch of New Content
Arrowhead has proved that though it has slowed down the process of releasing big updates, it didn’t eliminate major updates for Helldivers 2. After a long demand for a new enemy faction and interesting missions, when players almost assumed that the developer was not going to listen to them, the official trailer for Escalation of Freedom has been released.
This is going to be the first-ever major update the game will get. The trailer has revealed that this major update is about to give Super Earth a long list of features, including a new difficulty mode (Difficulty Level 10), fresh mission objectives, bigger enemy outposts, new enemy types in both the Terminid and Automaton factions, and new environmental hazards.
This update will be released on August 6, 2024, and on PlayStation Blog, social media and community manager of Arrowhead, Katherine Baskin, provides players with a detailed description of everything this update is going to add to the game.
Expressing her gratitude to the Helldivers 2 community for its patience and support, she mentioned,
“Our community continues to show us how strong we all are when united against the mindless Automatons and the scourge of the Terminid. As we stand here, on the eve of the Escalation of Freedom, we reflect on the 6 months since launch…Now for this major update, it’s time for us to give back something big to the community and welcome in even more players to the Helldivers universe.”
Of course, players are overwhelmed after seeing this announcement, but they still have some demands that they want this new update to fulfill.
Fans Eagerly Want Everyone to Experience Helldivers 2 From Every Corner of the World
Released on February 8, 2024, Helldivers 2 has become one of the most successful games of the year, winning several awards. However, this game is still banned in over 170 countries, and players from these countries can’t purchase the game on Steam just because they can’t set up their PSN account.
This decision by Sony was never supported by fans, and as soon as the official trailer for Escalation of Freedom came out, fans started posting about it on different social platforms. PlayStation joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter) and said, “My freedom? Escalated.”
As soon as this comment came, players dived into the reply section and expressed their frustration about banning Helldivers 2 in over 170 countries. Most of them clearly stated that unless this game is unlocked for everyone across the world, it can’t be called freedom.
Some have asked when this escalation will include the countries that are still unable to play the game.
Watching the reactions of the Helldivers, it is clear that they are happy with the update, but they want all the gamers across the world to enjoy the game.
Whether Sony will listen to this demand or not can’t yet be said.
