The layoff decision of NetherRealm Studios has put the future of Mortal Kombat Mobile into uncertainty.

NetherRealm Studios has created a lot of great titles, and its mobile game team used to create mobile versions of these games. While everything has been going well and players have been expecting new updates to enjoy, an update has altered things to a great extent.

On Wednesday morning, the Quality Assurance Analyst Software Developer from NetherRealm Studios, Tony Lazzara, posted about a piece of unfortunate news on LinkedIn, and wrote that NetherRealm Studios’ mobile gaming team has been shut down. This has put a group of talented people out of work.

With this, he mentioned the live services of multiple games like Mortal Kombat Mobile, Injustice 2, and Mortal Kombat Onslaught. This statement has made players worried, specifically about the future of these games if the team is closed.

While some players have been curious whether it is a publicity stunt or something like that, another team member from NetherRealm’s mobile game team has confirmed this incident. Elizabeth Ramirez, an animator at NetherRealm Studios, has stated the exact thing.

NetherRealm Studios has stated nothing about this issue. There’s no official statement to clarify the reason behind the sudden layoffs. Though Mortal Kombat Mobile is in danger, Mortal Kombat 1 is still running successfully, and a new fighter is soon to join.
