Nadella announced further plans for Xbox games in his annual report.

While ups and downs are parts of every sector, the gaming world suffered a tough time this year. Microsoft has conducted two layoffs in a gap of eight months. While the first job cuts laid off 1,900 people, the next one in September made 650 employees lose their jobs.

Despite going through rocky surfaces, the CEO released his annual letter on LinkedIn, where he mentioned the company has the goal to “empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.

The company entered its 50th year, and as the CEO expressed, it will work harder in every single division, including gaming. While Xbox is still fighting hard with PlayStation, Nadella assured fans that it will bring “great games to more people on more devices.”

According to his claims, currently, the company has 20 franchises that have made more than $1 billion in lifetime revenue. He mentioned Halo, World of Warcraft, Diablo, The Elder Scrolls, etc., as successful franchises.

The CEO revealed that the company will further emphasize on gaming in the coming years.

Even though the company started with a massive job cut followed by another, its value is still $3 trillion, and that’s mostly because it is now trying to capitalize on the rise of AI. In fact, these job cuts didn’t affect the company’s profit.

This year, the layoffs in January forced the company to close multiple studios, including Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, and Alpha Dog Games. In addition, Roundhouse Studios was merged with ZeniMax Online Studios.

About making games multiplatform, the company has brought four of its exclusive games, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves, to the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

In the annual report, Nadella said, “with Xbox cloud gaming, we continue to innovate to offer players more ways to experience the games they love—where, when, and how they want.”

Moreover, he concluded his report on gaming by stating that Microsoft will continue to extend its content on new platforms to make it available to a larger audience.
