For those gamers who are somehow still unaware of what Helldivers 2 revolves around, it basically pits the player squad against enemy armies that are not only dangerous for Super Earth but have their eyes on other planets in the game as well. On a surface level, it is all quite straightforward, as Arrowhead Game Studios sends out Major Orders with certain objectives that the player base has to complete within a limited time.

The two main opposing forces that ensure that the Helldivers do not reach their goal are the Terminids (bugs) and Automatons (bots), but lately, it seems like the latter faction is receiving unfair advantages from none other than Gamemaster Joel himself.

Helldivers 2 Players Are Growing Suspicious of Gamemaster Joel’s Decisions

The Terminids are not really much of a problem for Helldivers 2 players, but the Automatons most definitely are.

Despite Helldivers 2 overcoming various hurdles and becoming an enjoyable video game once again, thanks to updates like Independence Day, the community has lately been feeling that its efforts are not really coming to fruition.

This has led to a player expressing their frustration on the game’s subreddit, where they address the situation by stating that Gamemaster Joel is not exactly doing much justice over at the Automaton side of things.

It almost feels like high command is legitimately an undercover bot,” wrote the annoyed Helldivers 2 player, as they feel like the developer seems to be supporting the Automatons by not allowing the community to hit them when they are at their most vulnerable.

Recently, a Major Order was issued to the Helldivers, as they were supposed to retrieve a specific item from a planet called X45, but as soon as the objective was completed, the army was directed to head over to fight more Terminids. Considering the success of the community in completing its mission, the Redditor thinks that it would have been the perfect time to attack more Automaton territories since they had become much weaker.

With the players distracted and ordered to head over to the Terminid front, the bots comfortably “recover and rebuild,” making Helldivers 2 a repetitive gaming experience, even though the community is trying its best to enjoy the game.

Maybe Arrowhead Game Studios’ Player Base Should Let Joel Cook

There may be more to the Automaton storyline than what appears at the surface level.

In support of Gamemaster Joel and the Helldivers 2 lore, other members of the community have tried explaining what Arrowhead Game Studios could be planning for the Automaton plotline next.

A player pointed out that the objective of the aforementioned Major Order was never intended for the Helldivers to stay on the planet and fight more Automatons, as the mission was to retrieve a space station’s schematics so that it could be built for the continuation of the narrative.

Another Helldivers 2 player asked the community to have some more faith in Joel’s abilities to gradually build up an intriguing plot, stating that the supposedly “disconnected” storylines will likely all come together in the near future, similar to how other role-playing games operate.

Given that Arrowhead’s title is a live-service video game, not everything can be revealed all at once, and to ensure the longevity of Helldivers 2, the developer is probably gearing up towards a revelation that should hopefully satisfy player concerns.
