SUMMARY
  • Silent Hill 2 performed better than players expected, with all the essential features intact.
  • A sharp-eyed player has found an Easter egg that is related to the original game released 23 years ago.
  • Even with these, it, to some extent, disappointed the original creator of Silent Hill 2.

The Silent Hill 2 remake has taken the community by storm. Even before it was released, the game created major hype among fans, and its positive reviews clearly state that Bloober Team has matched the expectations of fans. Not only has it recreated the world perfectly with the spooky vibe completely intact, but it has even included an Easter egg that instantly takes players down memory lane.

Remakes often disappoint players, as the remakes of massively successful games most commonly fail to match the original vibe. Fortunately, Konami didn’t let players down and created an enjoyable remake of 2001’s massive hit survival horror game with extra features to discover.

Bloober Team Added an Iconic Easter Egg to Silent Hill 2 That Players Must Have Missed

Silent Hill 2 has brought an Easter egg, which will make the veteran players nostalgic.

Games often bring Easter eggs, and sometimes they are so well-hidden that players miss them if they don’t have prior knowledge about these items. The Silent Hill 2 remake was announced in 2022 and released in 2024; therefore, the developer got a substantial amount of time to work on these features.

It has only been a while since the remake version of the game was released, and already, some players have discovered an Easter egg that most others have probably missed. On the subreddit of the game, toxiccarnival314 first brought up this topic and posted an image of the hidden feature.

While exploring the Woodside Apartment courtyard, which is arguably the creepiest area of the game, he found the map of the original game was drawn on a board. The twist here is that this map can only be found after it’s dark.

The map shows the eastern side of the city, especially the areas close to Toluca Lake. This is so well placed that players will surely miss it if they aren’t aware of the location. The Silent Hill 2 community is overwhelmed after discovering the iconic Easter egg.

Even after all these efforts, it seems like the remake version failed to satisfy the creator of the original game.

Silent Hill 2 Creator Finds the Remake ‘Mediocre’ for a Specific Reason

The Silent Hill 2 remake hasn’t fully pleased the original game’s creator.

The Silent Hill 2 remake more or less satisfied the fans, but it looks like the game failed to entirely please Silent Hill 2’s director, Masashi Tsuboyama. This Japanese artist and director led the original game in 2001, and after the remake was released, he took it to X (formerly Twitter) to express his feelings.

Initially, he stated that because of the remake, new generation players can now dive into the game, and as a creator, he is happy about this. However, there’s something that bothered him about the remake that he straightforwardly mentioned as mediocre.

Talking about the remake, he expressed, “The differences between the original and the remake, 4K, Photorealism, the bonus headgear, etc. are all mediocre.”

However, there’s something that still appealed to him a lot, and that’s the change in playable camera perspective.

The director of the 2001 game stated that he didn’t like the camera angles of the original game, and that’s what made him “want to try playing the even more immersive remake of Silent Hill 2.”
