“I want to punch him”: Saber Interactive’s Tim Willits Can’t Admit Quickly Enough His Utter Dislike of 1 Space Marine 2 Character
Captain Titus has already dealt with dodgy subordinates, but Space Marine 2 seems to be introducing another one.
- Space Marine 2 will also feature two brothers-in-arms who will stick by Captain Titus' side during the campaign.
- The preview for the upcoming sequel showcases constant moments of disagreements between the fellow Space Marines.
- Saber Interactive's CCO isn't fond of how one subordinate is a little too confrontational with his Captain.
Similar to how the original 2011 title handled things, Space Marine 2 will also see Captain Demetrian Titus being accompanied by two other brothers-in-arms on his next adventure following the unfortunate aftermath of the first game. While the main Space Marine trio worked quite well together in the past as well, there have been some major disagreements among the party regarding various aspects, which can sometimes get a little heated in the moment.
Developer Saber Interactive seems to be continuing that tradition in its upcoming Warhammer 40K video game, as even Titus’ new fellow soldiers do not see eye to eye with their Captain.
One of Titus’ Brothers-In-Arms in Space Marine 2 Even Manages to Annoy Tim Willits
As Saber Interactive gears up to finally launch Space Marine 2 in a few days, taking its time to perfect the highly anticipated title for the Warhammer 40K fanbase, there is one character in the upcoming game that even the studio’s Chief Creative Officer is not necessarily a fan of.
The Space Marine sequel brings Brother-Sergeant Gadriel and Brother Chairon into the mix as Titus’ new brothers-in-arms, but after showcasing the preview of the campaign at Gamescom 2024, CCO Tim Willits addressed why one of the teammates was being a little too antagonistic with his Captain. “Yes, he gets a little whiny,” stated Willits, while not really specifying exactly which brother-in-arm will have these traits by naming both of them in the process, possibly to avoid even minor spoilers.
It seems like Titus will have his work cut out for him in Space Marine 2, as he already has to deal with quite a drastic situation of his own, but adding a character who will spend a lot of time with the Captain and disagreeing with everything he says will definitely prove to be a hassle for the protagonist. “I want to punch him,” admitted the Saber Interactive CCO, suggesting that either Gadriel or Chairon is going to be a major pain in Titus’ neck throughout the campaign.
Could Captain Titus Be Facing Yet Another Leandros Situation in the Upcoming Sequel?
Major spoilers follow for the original Space Marine, so for those who have not had the chance to play the 2011 title, there was a shocking plot twist at the end of the game that set the events of the upcoming sequel into motion.
In the Relic Entertainment-developed game, Titus was accompanied by Veteran Sergeant Sidonus and a Tactical Marine called Leandros, where the latter ends up betraying his Captain by falsely accusing him and reporting him to the Inquisition.
As Tim Willits suggests, players are going to notice that there is something off about one of Titus’ new brothers-in-arms, while also teasing a sequence that could hint at yet another Leandros situation for the Captain to handle.
“There’s an event in the game between Titus and him, but it is interesting to see how that plays out,” revealed the Doom 3 designer, implying that there will likely be some sort of conflict between the two main characters.
