Ever since Marvel 1943 was revealed nearly two years ago, it immediately caught the attention of both comic book fans and gamers. With Captain America and Black Panther set to take center stage in the upcoming action-adventure title, all of the footage shown till now has looked spectacular, but thanks to yet another Marvel video game launched not that long ago, there is naturally going to be some skepticism regarding how Skydance New Media will handle the gameplay mechanics of its project.

Fortunately, it seems like Rise of Hydra may manage to avoid the problems faced by Marvel’s Avengers and end up being a much better gaming experience than its Crystal Dynamics counterpart.

The Gameplay in Marvel 1943 Could Be Way More Enjoyable Than Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers Title

Considering the immense popularity of the Avengers IP during the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga, it was not exactly a surprise that a video game based on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was just around the corner.

However, although the gameplay and the combat mechanics were easily some of the better elements from the title, even they did not get a chance to shine due to a dull and repetitive aura surrounding the rest of the game. Both Captain America and Black Panther were included in the playable character roster in Crystal Dynamics’ take on the iconic superheroes, but their upcoming adventure in Rise of Hydra could add some much-needed layers to the ways they tackle confrontations.

Till now, the focal point of Skydance New Media’s marketing for Marvel 1943 has been its stunning visuals as it utilizes the power of Unreal Engine 5, which could hint at how the gameplay mechanics would work in the incoming title.

Skydance New Media Could Take a Page Out of Insomniac Games’ Book for Rise of Hydra

With its platform-defining Marvel’s Spider-Man series, Insomniac Games proved that a superhero video game does not have to have complex combat to become a successful force to be reckoned with in the genre.

Considering that the narrative elements seem to be at the forefront of the upcoming Rise of Hydra, it could mean that Skydance New Media is taking a page out of Insomniac’s book to make the gameplay mechanics simple and layered simultaneously, making it a more enjoyable story-driven title.

An example of “a much simpler, more contextual combat system” from the Marvel’s Spider-Man games would be how players can perform a wide variety of combos by just pressing a couple of buttons, but for the gamers who prefer gameplay depth, there is always the choice to mix things up by throwing in gadgets or other special abilities.

Until Skydance provides some substantial gameplay footage for Marvel 1943, fans will have to wait to see what the developer has in store for them.

For now, it seems like Marvel will no longer need to only rely on Insomniac in the realm of video games, especially with upcoming releases like Marvel Rivals and Rise of Hydra.
