How to Unlock Watch Dogs’ DedSec in XDefiant
Did someone call for a hacker?
Ubisoft’s new free-to-play FPS XDefiant brings some familiar faces and factions from its many franchises to the battlefield. With beloved titles like Splinter Cell, The Division, Ghost Recon, and Watch Dogs entering the fray, this new title is bound to be a hit among Ubisoft fans and newcomers alike.
Each faction in the game brings something new and distinct to the table, making it easy to find one that suits your play style. With all-time favorites like Libertad, the Cleaners, Echelon, and The Phantoms all vying for prominence, each battle in XDefiant is sure to come with an adrenaline rush. However, gaining access to some factions can be quite a task. That’s where we come in.
Who Watches the Watch Dogs?
Unlocking DeadSec is certainly worth it as they bring a unique skill set to the table, and add a lot of nuance to XDefiant’s gameplay loop. For instance, they can hijack enemy abilities and use their own strengths against them. They could also deploy area-of-effect EMPs that distort key enemy functions like their HUD and minmap!

No team of hackers would be complete without some fancy tech in the field and DeadSec brings the Spiderbots from Watch Dogs along to leap at your enemies’ faces to stun them, opening them up for a ton of damage if you play your cards right.
Last but not least, they can duplicate any device that they find on the map, giving you a significant tactical advantage in battle!
How to Unlock Watch Dogs’ DedSec in XDefiant
DedSec’s abilities can make them a force to be reckoned with in the right hands. However, unlocking them in XDefiant can take a lot of time and effort. With the faction being locked when you start the game, there are two ways you could unlock the faction to take with you into battle.

The first way is to just grind it out. The Major Challenge you need to complete to earn DedSec is to gain a whopping 700,000 XP by playing matches and earning as many kills as you can. Completing optional challenges in-game is another great way to earn XP. However, you will still need to be patient as this is a monumental task however you choose to achieve it!
The other way is to use XCoins to buy them outright from the game’s store. Gaining access to the Faction and Sebastian costs 1,000 XCoins while every character and a few other skins cost 2,500 XCoins. XCoins are bought with real money to exchange for in-game items, with 1,000 XCoins costing $10 with a bundle of 2,100 XCoins costing $20.
These are the only two ways by which you can gain access to DedSec in XDefiant at the moment. Yet, this faction of hacktivists are sure to win you more than a few matches with a skill set that’s straight out of Watch Dogs.
