Rise of the Ronin offers its players a lot of options when it comes to the game’s exhilarating combat. A variety of weapons, combat styles, elements, and gear effects work in tandem to give each Ronin a distinct playstyle.

However, the sheer number of options can get overwhelming in the early stages of the game. Finding that your hard-earned skill points could have been used for a playstyle that seems better than what you are currently running can be frustrating. However, Team Ninja seems to have thought of everything.

Stock up on Brush Kits to make the most of Rise of the Ronin’s many build options.

In Rise of the Ronin, decisions play an important part in the overall narrative as well as its gameplay. You choose the direction of your band of Ronin in the story while choosing your Ronin’s own specialties in combat. And Team Ninja seems to understand that with a game like Rise of the Ronin, things can change at the drop of a hat.

How to Respec Your Character in Rise of the Ronin

The Longhouse is where the Ronin carries out personal business.

It is easy to start over in Rise of the Ronin, with only a little story progression required to unlock the ability to respec your character. However, it requires a consumable item that may be harder to acquire until the later stages of the game, requiring you to hoard a premium currency to afford it.

Your Ronin enters the city of Yokohama early in the story after a chance encounter with Ryoma Sakomoto leads you to the city’s Pleasure District. After a few more encounters with some important members of the cast, Ryoma invites you to a nearby longhouse, where he has secured lodgings for the night.

It turns out that he has struck a deal to make the place a base of operations. The Longhouse becomes your Ronin’s place of refuge in the big city, allowing you to return there at any time, eventually unlocking a host of side activities like the Cat Concierge and Gardening with unique rewards. But there is another important function that the Longhouse serves.

It is where you can alter your Ronin’s appearance and reallocate their skill points to accommodate a new play style. While the former can be done at any time for free, you will need to purchase a Brush Kit for the latter. Fortunately, a Black Marketeer NPC can be found outside the Longhouse who can sell these items to you for 10 Silver Coins each.

With the Brush Kit in your possession, enter your Longhouse and select the Relax option. You will then see a new menu with the Blade Repair option available. This is the option to respec your Ronin and experiment with new weapons and combat styles in Rise of the Ronin.

With the ability to respec your character now at your disposal, it could be a good idea to expand your arsenal of skills and weapons by taking on some very rewarding Bond Missions. Whatever you choose to do, our Rise of the Ronin guides can help your Ronin find their destiny with style!
