The fight won’t reward you with the item. So, if you are still unsure how to get Preserved Medusa Head in Dragon’s Dogma 2, this guide will give you all the necessary information.
Fighting Medusa is not going to be an easy thing. So, players need to get prepared for the fight before it begins. The next section of the guide will help you know the location of Medusa and how to prepare for the fight.
Dragon’s Dogma 2- Medusa Location and Other Necessary Details
Medusa is one of the earliest bosses to fight in the game. Appearing early doesn’t mean that she will be easy to deal with. Instead, the fact is quite the opposite. You must remember having her glimpses at the beginning of the game, but that’s not when the fight begins. Instead, to fight the boss, make sure you have accessed the second major region of the game Battahl.
If you haven’t yet located the boss, let me tell you the exact location. Medusa is located in the Wyrmsblood Forest in Battahl. Once you reach Battahl, proceed toward the capital city of the region, Bakbattahl. From there, make your way to the southwest side of the location. Eventually, you will reach Caliginous Depths, the home to Medusa. As you reach closer to her location stone statues will indicate you are on the right track.
Before you start the fight to get her head, make sure to be fully prepared for the fight. Getting her head requires you to cut it off, which means you have to play as a melee vocation like Thief or Fighter. The latter is not suitable for Medusa fight. So, better switch to Thief. Well, of course, other vocations can defeat her, but that’s not the goal here. Killing the boss won’t reward you with her head. So, you have to cut it off before the boss is dead.
When you are ready to join the fight, go to the cave and attack the boss. Of course, bring your Pawns with you to get some help.
Fighting Strategy- How to Cut the Head of Medusa?
Medusa is a mythological figure and is well known for her ability to turn people and objects into stone statues. Well, the serpent-like boss in Dragon’s Dogma 2 also has the same ability which makes her one of the toughest enemies in the game. Therefore, chopping her head off while she is alive is something really tough. It requires a proper strategy; otherwise, you are dead for sure.
At first glimpse, one thing players will definitely notice- the size of the enemy. It is a huge enemy with a range of attacks. So, it won’t be an easy thing to reach her head, no matter how well your pawns are fighting. There are a few ways to reach her head:
First, jump on her head when she is down on the ground for a few seconds. As players keep on dealing damage to the boss, she sometimes will fall down on the ground, allowing you to jump onto her head and start dealing damage. After a certain point, deals slash damage to chop her head off. Next, another way you can try is to climb the walls or pillars in the battle arena and jump on her head from above. That’s a bit risky for sure as you can fall to the ground if you miss.
The third and most used way is to let your pawns distract the boss while you start climbing her body to reach her head. As the fight begins, watch out for the attacks, and start to stay at the back side of the boss. Whenever, the boss casts a red ray from her eyes, jump away, otherwise, you will turn into a statue. Indeed the boss won’t easily let you climb her. She will try to throw you off her back, but stick to her body and climb her until you reach her head.
Once you are close to her head, plant Powder Blasts on her torso. You can’t stay on her head for a long time as she will use every possible way to shake you off her body. However, the Powder Blast ability will stun the enemy for a few seconds and she will fall to the ground, allowing you to cut her head off. Remember, Powder Blast or Powder Charge are exclusive Thief abilities. As soon as the head is cut, the fight ends. You don’t even need to bother about her health bar.

Now, if you are specifically looking for a Preserved Medusa Head, you need to know some important information before you go for the fight. One thing to remember is that the quality of the head is determined by when players cut it off. If you cut it when the boss barely loses one health bar, you will get the Preserved Medusa Head. Otherwise, you will get a regular Medusa Head. That’s the only difference.
However, if you somehow miss the chance to chop her head off, and the boss dies, you have to wait for 14 in-game days to get the next chance.
How to Use Medusa Head in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Once you have the Medusa Head, naturally you can ask what is the use of the item. Well, Medusa Head is a powerful item that you can hang in your belt, and use to petrify enemies whenever required. It is not hard to guess that the ability to petrify enemies makes challenging fights easy. Luckily, even the petrifying ability of the Medusa Head works on Medusa herself.
However, one Medusa Head can’t be used infinite times. The more you use the head, the more it will start losing its ability and get rotten. Even if you keep it in your inventory for a long time, it will start decaying. Therefore, if you are trying to preserve a Medusa Head and use it for a long time, you have to store it in your house or at an Inn.
That’s everything you need to know about how to get Preserved Medusa Head in Dragon’s Dogma 2. The process is the same but has a little catch that players probably can’t figure out if they are not aware of it from the beginning.
