Before going to know about the process to get the true ending in the game, first players need to know about the true ending; so they can determine why they should try to get to that part.

Dragon’s Dogma 2- What is The True Ending?

True Ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Endings give the story of the game a proper finish and ends the journey of players. Open world games often feature more than one endings, but among them one ending always supasses others. In Dragon’s Dogma 2 as well, players will get an ending based on the decisions they have made during the gameplay, but the true ending is the exclusive climax of the game and most importantly, an epilogue which indicates that the journey is not yet ended. There’s more to come.

However, your in-game choices won’t trigger the true ending. It is not even triggered automatically. Therefore, even if you have scouted every corner of the map, you won’t get to the desired ending, if you don’t do the required activity. To start your journey towards the true ending, players need to assist Ambrosius to make a new Godsway.

However, that’s not everything. So, for detailed information, check out the next section of the guide.

Dragon’s Dogma 2- How to Reach the True Ending?

The true ending is kind of hidden in the gameplay and without players doing proper activities, this ending is almost impossible to get. The route to reach the true ending starts with the final main quest: Legacy. As you progress through the game and make your way to Phaesus, you will finally confront  the Dragon that has stolen your beating heart from the chest. This dragon interaction scene comes with two options to choose from: Flee with life or Fight.

This is the most crucial choice and your choice at this point will decide whether you get the true ending or not. If you choose to flee with life, you will miss the true ending. So, the definite choice here is to fight the dragon. As soon as you choose to fight the dragon, you will be on the back of the dragon and it will fly towards the battle arena where you will have the final battle.

During the entire flying session, the dragon will talk about you and your journey, don’t get affected by these words. Instead, focus on doing your own work. During this time, you have to slowly shift to the heart of the Dragon. For that, players need to move towards the head of the creature and from there make your way down to its chest. You will find a glowing portion which is the heart of the dragon.

At this point, choose Empowered Godsbane Blade from your inventory and use it on yourself. As soon as you have used the Empowered Godsbane Blade on yourself, you will start progressing towards the true ending. After this event happens, a series of cutscenes comes, and you will again find yourself in the same world that you have already explored, but the difference this time is that the world is entirely red. This world is doomed and desolated.

Post Game Scenes of Dragon’s Dogma 2

However, as you get back to your senses and get back to control, you can again start exploring the world as part of the postgame section of the story. As you start exploration, you will eventually see that the red fog is spreading and making some areas inaccessible. So, don’t waste time and start exploring the locations faster. Remember, this post game section won’t allow you the advantage of traveling through oxcarts. So, players need to use Ferrystone to traverse around the map.

How Many Endings Dragon’s Dogma 2 Has?

Currently, the game has three endings to explore:

  • Bad Ending
  • Good Ending
  • True Ending

We have already discussed the True Ending. So, let’s check how to get the other two endings. These endings are all based on the choices you make. During the final main quest Legacy, when you meet the Dragon and get two options from it, if you choose the option to flee away, you will be directed towards the bad ending. In this ending, a cutscene will show that your character is crowned in an empty coronation ceremony. As soon as the cutscene ends, players will be taken back to the home screen and given the option to reload their save.

Interaction with the Dragon

To get the Good Ending, choose to fight the dragon during the Legacy mission and don’t do anything until it takes you to the battle arena. Fight and defeat the dragon after it takes you to the battle point. It will trigger a cutscene which again shows a coronation ceremony of your Arisen, but it will be a lively one. Now, choose to take the throne and immediately after that you will again find yourself in the title screen with an option of reloading your save.

That’s all you need to know about getting the True Ending in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you want to experience all three endings, do it one by one. We suggest not to go for the true ending at the beginning as these endings eventually give you the option to reload your last save and take on the journey to get the true ending.
