Elden Ring has a vast open world containing multiple regions to explore. While a few of them are optional, the remaining are compulsory. However, these regions are not unlocked by default. Instead, players need to unlock them by completing certain requirements. For example, some regions require them to fight powerful bosses, or complete specific quests to be unlocked. Similarly, If one wants to reach Altus Plateau, he/she needs to unlock the Grand Lift of Dectus. The catch here is that this elevator is not activated by default. Instead, players need to activate it by collecting the two Dectus Medallion halves.

The process is not as simple as it sounds. Finding the two Dectus Medallion halves will give you enough hard times if you are not sure where to look for them. Don’t worry if you need some help; this guide will give you a complete walkthrough of the entire process.

Since the Dectus Medallion is divided into two parts, players need to find them one by one from their respective locations. First , let’s check the location of the Left Dectus Medallion half, and then we will move on to the Right Dectus Medallion half.

Left Dectus Medallion Location in Elden Ring

Left Dectus Medallion Location

The Left Dectus Medallion part is located at Fort Haight. If you are not sure where Fort Haight is located, let me tell you, it is located in one of the early areas of the game, Limgrave. Start moving southeast of Limgrave and eventually, you will reach Fort Haight.

If the location doesn’t seem clear from Limgrave, you can start your journey from Mistwood.if you have defeated Blaidd the half-wolf, you must remember the location. From the fight location, Fort Haight is only a few minutes walk.

Well, Fort Haight shouldn’t be a new location, though. Players might have visited this location previously, as this is the area where they have to deal with Godrick Knight to get one of the best Ashes of War, Bloody Slash. Therefore, if you have Bloody Slash, you have definitely explored the fort. If you have missed the Medallion part that time, don’t worry. Come back to the fort and just where you have fought Godrick Knight, you will see a tower. Enter the tower, climb up the ladder to reach the top. The Left Medallion half will be inside a chest.

Don’t worry, Fort Haight is not full of dangerous enemies. Instead, players can handle these enemies pretty easily.

Right Dectus Medallion Location in Elden Ring

Right Dectus Medallion Location

After the Left one, players need to look for the Right Dectus Medallion half which is located in Fort Faroth. Naturally, players may not remember the location of this fortress immediately. Fort Faroth is located in Caelid. Therefore, you can easily understand that the Right half will be found after you have progressed a substantial amount through the story. If you are trying to reach Caelid from Limgrave, use Summonwater Village to transport to the location. However, before entering Caelid, players need to defeat an NPC.

Once you are in Caleid, make your way to the northern side of the region until you reach the Dragonbarrow sub-region. After you reach Dragonbarrow, next start progress to the eastern side of the area and you will reach Fort Faroth. From the entrance of the fort, go to the left side and you will see a ladder. Climb it to reach the top and you will get the Right Dectus Medallion half.

Apart from the Dectus Medallion part, Fort Faroth has one of the best talismans of the game: Radagon’s Soreseal. If you haven’t explored the area before and have acquired the talisman, find it before leaving. When equipped, this talisman will boost vigor, endurance, strength, and dexterity, in exchange of 15% more damage.

However, be careful while roaming in Dragonbarrow. Though this location doesn’t have challenging enemies, still, no enemy can be taken lightly in Elden Ring.

Now if you collect both medallion parts after you have encountered the giant elevator structure, you are aware what to do with them. But, if you have collected during your exploration, you may get confused about their use. That’s natural as you haven’t yet reached the part where you will find their use. In the next section we will clear your doubts.

How to Use The Two Dectus Medallion Parts in the Elden Ring?

Dectus Medallion

Once you have both Medallion parts, you have to bring these two parts to the Grand Lift of Dectus where these two pieces should be placed together to form the entire medallion and activate the lift. Now, if you are a bit confused about the location of the Grand Lift of Dectus, let me tell you, this enormous construction is located in the north of Liurnia. Players need to make their ways to the Tower of Dectus. The easiest way to reach the location is through the Raya Lucaria Academy, which is the second largest dungeon of the game. The Academy is huge and full of powerful opponents that must be defeated to progress.

Once you reach the Grand Lift of Dectus, place the two medallions and activate the lift which will take you to Altus Plateau. From there you have to make your way to the next major region of the game, Leyndell, the Royal Capital. So, this part is mandatory.  Though the Grand Lift of Dectus is not the only way to reach Altus Plateau, this is the easiest one. If one decides to take the other way to avoid finding the Medallion parts, that’s fine, but the alternative route is full of dangerous enemies, including the Magma Wyrm Makar boss. Additionally, this way is longer than you can imagine. However, if you love challenges and adventure, skip the Grand Lift part and take the alternate way which will be found left to the lift.

That’s everything players need to know about finding the two Dectus Medallion halves in the Elden Ring. The process is not tough, but a bit tricky as there’s a huge chance that you have overlooked these haves during your exploration as there’s no immediate use of these items.
