How to Get Moly in Hades 2 (and How to Use It)
It's time to go back to where it all began.
Hades 2 introduces new mechanics for its players to engage with in its unique take on Greek legends. With a charismatic protagonist and supporting cast, there is a lot to learn in Supergiant Games’ sequel.
One of the key changes made to the game’s systems is the addition of Incantations that unlock various important items, locations, and buffs for Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld. As a witch under the tutelage of Hecate, her quest to take down Chronos, the Titan of Time, requires more than a few of these spells.
Learning the Recipes for Success
Many of these powerful spells require the use of Moly, an inobtrusive yellow plant that can be found as she explores the world. Specifically, Moly is obtained in the region of Erebus, where she begins her journey.

While it is fairly easy to collect, Melinoë soon finds that Moly is a requirement for several important Incantations but does not grow in regions of the world beyond Erebus. Gathering enough of this plant could prove challenging without the right strategy, but very rewarding if it’s done correctly.
How to Get Moly in Hades 2 (and How to Use It)
Although Moly is fairly easy to find and gather considering it does not require any special tools, the fact that it is exclusive to Erebus might be baffling to many Hades 2 players.
However, there is a simple way to get around this obstacle. And that’s the tried-and-tested method of farming enough of it to serve your purposes. Begin a new run and progress through Erebus, keeping an eye out for its golden leaves in every room. Then, make your way to Hecate and lose the fight to her to get sent back to the region’s beginning, where you can gather up more Moly.

Rinse and repeat this process a few times, and you should soon have enough Moly to get started with the many Incantations it unlocks. Many of these are important to progressing narrative beats and ensuring that Melinoë takes every advantage she can get into battle.
Here are some Incantations that Moly can be used for:
- Fated Intervention requires Ashes, Silver, and Moly to unlock the Fated List of Prophecies, a list of tasks that you can complete to obtain rewards.
- Night’s Craftwork allows Melinoë to craft special gathering tools in the Silver Pools.
- Flourishing Soil unlocks additional Soil Plots and rewards Nightshade.
- Reagent Sensing helps in resource collection by highlighting them after every enemy in the room has been taken out.
- Woodsy Lifespring unlocks a Healing Fountain in Erebus that restores some health if Melinoë needs a top-up.
- Kindred Keepsakes adds a Keepsake collection to spaces between biomes so Melinoë can easily prepare for what’s ahead based on the region.
- Forget-Me-Not makes resource hunting easy by highlighting important ones along with information on the tools required to get them.
- Rite of Vapor-Cleansing unlocks the Crossroads‘ Hot Springs and rewards Bath Salts to help improve Melinoë’s bonds with important characters.
- Cleansing of Fountain-Waters upgrades fountains, allowing them to restore more of Melinoë’s health.
- Rise of the Stygian Wells adds Charon’s Wells at various locations in the Underworld, where Melinoë can purchase important items for other Incantations.
- Surge of Stygian Wells adds Charon’s Wells to spaces between different biomes.
- Permeation of Witching-Wards unlocks access to the surface, letting Melinoë continue her adventure beyond the Underworld.
These are just some Incantations that require the use of Moly. There are many more of them to discover. It can be a good idea to return to the Crossroads Cauldron from time to time to check on any new Incantations you can perform and what you need to do so.
There are many other important resources besides Moly for Melinoë to find, Garlic and Moon Dust being among them. For any specific resources that are eluding you, let our Hades 2 guides show you the way!
