Ghost of Tsushima truly captures the essence of a full-blown samurai experience in both its main story and side content. While the main story explores Jin Sakai’s inner conflict about the samurai code, the side content sees him experience events that inform his opinions. It is an elegant loop that creates scope for the story to do more.

Enter the Mythic Tale side quests that grant Jin special rewards like new techniques and armor to aid his fight against the Mongols. They are essentially folk tales built around real people from the island’s illustrious history, legends in their own right. However, The Six Blades of Kojiro bring Jin to the doorstep of a living legend, whom he must defeat first to get his armor.

You can begin The Six Blades of Kojiro by talking to the musician Yamato in Umugi Cove. It turns out that Kojiro and his minions have a bone to pick with Jin.

You will need to defeat five swordsmen in special one-on-one boss fights to gain access to the final battle at Kojiro’s hideout.

“Kojiro will grant you the honor of a duel, but you must earn that privilege by dueling the five Straw Hats who joined him. [They are] waiting across the region. He [Kojiro] said they’ll make sure you’ll find them.“

They are as follows:

• Yasumasa: Duel in the Drowning Marsh (Old Kanazawa Marsh in Umugi)
• Hirotsune: Duel Among the Spider Lilies (North from the Field of the Equinox Flower)
• Kiyochika: Duel Under Falling Water (Under a waterfall along the Musashi Coast)
• Tomotsugu: Duel of Crashing Waves (The shore below Cloud Ridge Shrine)
• Kanetomo: Duel Under Autumn Leaves (East from Yamabushi’s Peak)

Bring your best swordplay to each scenic location, as these bosses mean business. But with the right timing of dodges, parries, and critical strikes, they fall to your blade one by one.

How to Get Kensei Armor in Ghost of Tsushima

Return to Yamato in Umugi Cove to learn that Kojiro has invited you to his hideout. He has left directions to a cave close to the Omi Monastery. Find the entrance under the mountains surrounding the monastery, using Guiding Wind to point you in the right direction.

Enter the cave and talk to Kojiro to trigger the boss fight – and gain the Kensei armor as your reward.

That may be easier said than done, however. Kojiro is among the finest swordsmen Jin will face and varies his considerable arsenal of attacks with ease. It can be a good idea to focus on attacks, parries, and saving resolve exclusively for healing. It is a thrilling battle of attrition that takes a methodical approach to beat. Watch out for multiple unblockable attacks in a row.

With Kojiro defeated, you can now equip and upgrade the Kensei armor, granting you significant improvements to your resolve and damage from ghost weapons. When used well, it can make you a living weapon. Keep swinging that sword, and let the legend earn itself.
