However, getting the diving mask takes some time since you will have to keep following the story and only after reaching its middle point you will be able to get this special mask.

As explained in the game the Diving Mask is “a special breathing apparatus that enables diving to extreme depths.” Players will have the ability to craft the mask and once crafted it will be available under the “Special Gear” section.

To get the Diving Mask first you will have to reach the point where you can complete the seventh main quest called “The Eye of the Earth.” In this quest, the protagonist of the game Aloy along with her friends will have to explore a facility located west of Plainsong.

You will have to look out for MINERVA after reaching this facility. After that, you will be able to find GAIA, and you will be given the choice to select three available subordinate functions (Aether, Poseidon, or Demeter) you want to go after. Choose Poseidon and go to Las Vegas to get the Diving Mask right away. Remember to reach level 22 before beginning the Poseidon mission.

Your Next Stop is Poseidon!

Next, you will have to go to the location of Poseidon. You will be given a new objective where you will have to search the ruins and find a way underground. This place can be found by tracking the ‘unknown settlement’ marked on your map.

You will reach a big building that resembles a pagoda with water pouring out of it. This location can be seen as “The Tower of Tears” on the map. Go inside the pagoda and use the grapple point on the first floor’s edge to reach the second one. Then you will have to interact with the tarp to enter the building.

Here you will find some NPCs who are trying to dive inside the building by using a box-like contraption. But they have been failing consistently to dive. Aloy interacts with an NPC and comes up with a plan to make a smaller and more portable version of the device.

Some Machine Parts and a Compressed Air Capsule are required to craft the mask. The Compressed Air Capsule can be found in the flooded area the Machine Parts can be found outside of the pagoda. Once you reach the location you will have to kill both Bellowback and Leaplasher machines. The Bellowbacks can be eliminated with Frost damage, while the Leapslashers are vulnerable against Shock damage.

After gathering all the items return to Morlund in The Tower of Tears. After returning use the workbench to craft the Diving Mask. Open the crafting menu and scroll down to the “Special Gear” section to craft the device using the Compressed Air Capsule, Machine Knee Cap, and Synthetic Membrane.

The Diving Mask will be equipped automatically after you have done the crafting. Now you will be able to explore the underwater territory as this device will help you to breathe underwater!
