How to Find All Deathroots in Elden Ring
Deathroots are just one collectible present in Elden Ring, but an important one for sure.
FromSoftware’s action RPG Elden Ring takes players to a fictional realm called the Lands Between. In this realm, players go on a journey of exploration and adventure where they conquer deadly foes to become the Elden Lord. Players will have to go through a long journey in the Lands Between to gather Key Items.
These items in Elden Ring can be used to advance Side Quests, gain access to new areas, or unlock new gameplay features. There are a variety of Key Items in Elden Ring for gathering and using to boost your progress in this fantasy saga. One of the most essential Key Items in the game is the Deathroot. This Key Item can be found as collectibles across the world of Lands Between.
How Many Types of Deathroots Are There and How to Find Them in Elden Ring
One of the most common locations for finding Deathroot are places where roots have grown out of the ground or are carried by an undead enemy. According to the in-game description:
Deathroots appeared when the Rune of Death spread throughout the Lands Between through the underground roots of the Great Tree. This happened after the first death of a demigod.
Players will be able to find nine kinds of Deathroots in Elden Ring scattered across different locations in the Lands Between. The first thing that players need to do is look for an NPC named D, Hunter of the Dead. D can be found at the Summonwater Village Outskirts at East Limgrave.

After reaching the area, players will find an individual standing in front of a dead body who is donning a unique armor with a sword in his hand which he holds upside down on the ground. This is D, Hunter of the Dead and players will have to talk with him to progress further. Once a conversation is initiated D warns the players from progressing further.
Players will proceed to the Roundtable Hold to talk with D. After talking with D, players will be able to learn the location of the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid, which is the place where Guuranq resides. Next, players must reach the point marked by D on the map. Once you have reached there you will spawn directly into Bestial Sanctum and in front of Guuranq.
Players will be able to find Deathroots in nine locations. Below we have listed down all of them.
First Deathroot
The first Deathroot can be found at the edge of West and East Limgrave near the Sanctuary Bridge. Players will have to beat the boss of the Deathtouched Catacombs to get this Deathroot after obtaining it head to the bestial priest to get the Beast Eye and Clawmark Seal. The Beast Eye will give you the ability to be on alert when you approach a boss or a dungeon that houses more Deathroots.
Second Deathroot
Players will have to travel to a dilapidated village underwater called Summonwater Village Ruins. The village is situated across the Saintsbridge. Here, players will have to face a menacing boss named Tibia Mariner to obtain the second Deathroot.
Be forewarned though, that Tibia Mariner will charge toward you with his large while steering a boat to bolster his attack. The fight gets more difficult as Tibia Mariner calls upon skeletons to challenge the players. You will be rewarded with the Deathroot once Tibia Mariner is defeated.
Third Deathroot
Look for a ruin in Liurnia with a small water body called the Artist’s Shack. Here you will find the second Tibia Mariner boss. Defeat this boss to obtain the third Deathroot.
Fourth Deathroot
To get the fourth Deathroot, players will be facing two bosses. Players will have to reach the northeast of the ruined labyrinth site of grace, the Black Knife Catacombs. Here players will be able to find the two bosses – Black Knife Assassins and Cemetary Shade.
The main objective here is to defeat the Cemetary Shade since the Deathroot is inside its boss room. The Cemetary Shade boss room is filled with skeletons which revive and distract the players. So look out for them while battling the boss. Once the boss is down, open the chest and grab the fourth Deathroot.
At this point, the gameplay takes a twist as Guuranq goes into a frenzy after receiving the fourth Deathroot. Pacify him by delivering a few hits on him and after some time Guuranq will regain his senses.
Fifth Deathroot
The fifth Deathroot can be found in the depths of the Abductor’s Village in Mt. Gelmir. Here you will find one of the Hero’s Grave and along with it the fifth Deathroot of Elden Ring. To get the Deathroot you will have to enter the dungeon. Once you have entered the dungeon a fierce battle with Red Wolf of the Champion will happen after defeating this boss you will be able to get the fifth Deathroot.
Sixth Deathroot
The next Deathroot can be found in the Altus Plateau. At first, players will have to start by tracking the two halves of the Dectus medallion at Fort Haight in Limgrave and Fort Faroth in Caelid. The plateau can be recognized easily by the golden light of Leyndell.

Seventh Deathroot
Players will find themselves on a snowy terrain while looking for the next Deathroot in Elden Ring. Players will have to reach the snowy fields of the Mountaintop of the Giants, situated inside the Giant’s Mountaintop Catacomb.
To reach this place you will have to start by heading to the Zamor Ruins. In the southeast direction, you will find a cracked wall. Continue eastwards and circle the rocks to continue northwest to pass through a passage. In this passage, you will see a handful of Fire Monks roam the area. Slide down the slope and take an immediate right to reach the entrance to the Catacomb.
Be careful, since this Catacomb is scattered with traps. After evading the traps you will be able to find a lever that must be activated. Return to the starting area and go through the boss room door. Here you will have to face the ulcerated tree spirit and defeat it to receive the Deathroot.
Eighth Deathroot

You will have to confront another Tibia Mariner who roams the area near the walking Mausoleum in Mountaintop of the Giants. Defeating him will reward players with a Deathroot.
Ninth Deathroot
The final Deathroot in the game can be found inside a large dungeon called the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. Players will need to collect the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion. The right part can be obtained from Albus who is hiding in the Village of the Albunaurics in Liurnia. The left portion can be retrieved once Commander Niall drops it on the rooftop of Castle Sol in Mountaintop of the Giant. After collecting the two halves return to the Grand Lift of Rold to access the area.
Explore the Hidden Path thoroughly and head to the Haligtree dungeon to reach a circle bridge with a broken portion. Once you have reached here drop down on an invisible bridge and carefully follow the routes. After passing through these routes players will be able to find a lever that opens up the door to the boss room. Fight this boss and finish him to get the Deathroot from the chest.
After getting all the Deathroots you will be able to progress through Guraanq’s storyline. As soon as you gather the Deathroots go to Guraanq and hand them over to him for rewards.
