Rise of the Ronin features an open world that rewards players for exploring it. With a lot to do and many people to help out, earning a bit of cash to spend on ammo, gear, and upgrades can become a grind. And with two currencies in play, that can amount to a lot of work.

However, knowing which missions to take on and collectibles to hunt down can help your Ronin maintain a steady flow of coins while also maintaining their gear and skills at optimal levels.

The real MVPs in Rise of the Ronin.

Rise of the Ronin offers its players two currencies as a reward for playing its many missions and activities. While Sen is easier to come by and is rewarded in larger amounts from most activities, Silver Coins are rare rewards from a select few collectibles and missions.

Moreover, the items that Silver Coins can purchase are also quite rare and include Treatises (which can be used for free skill points), exclusive gear, and Longhouse Decorations. They can also be used to purchase rare items you may need to present to NPCs as gifts. There are also individuals who task you with specific actions, with better rewards unlocking the more you engage with them.

All of these rewards cost Silver Coins too. It’s time to dive into how your Ronin can keep their silver reserves topped off at all times.

There are many ways to earn the Silver Coins you need in Rise of the Ronin. For starters, taking Photographs of important landmarks around Japan from specific locations marked on your map pays a fair amount of coins. There are also missions linked to capturing photos at scenes of interest that you can pick up from the Photographic Studio to earn some extra coins.

Next, rounding up Cats for Usugumo Dayu nets you 3 coins per cat that you can find. Just remember to approach them slowly to avoid startling them. You could also remember to stop and pet every Pilgrim Dog that you can find to gain one coin per dog. Also, sending Pilgrim Dogs on pilgrimages across Japan from your Longhouse can reward Silver Coins. The Cat Concierge missions are another great source.

Unlocking Chests in Storehouses as well as in the open world can often be a good source of Silver Coins. The Storehouses require you to find a key, usually possessed by a tougher opponent in the area. There are also many Fugitives across the map who are challenging opponents that you can bring down to earn more Silver Coins. You eventually meet an NPC who grants rewards for bringing them down, so make sure to engage these warriors when you can.

Another great way to farm Silver Coins is to complete optional objectives on missions. You will often find missions tasking you with killing a specific number of Formidable Foes or other sub-objectives in addition to the main one. Completing these objectives can often reward you with Silver Coins.

Interestingly, improving your Bond Level with each individual area within the explorable map often opens up new collectibles on the map that you can then continue ticking off until you have enough Silver Coins to purchase what you need.

The Cats are a great way to unlock the map and reveal more activities and opportunities to earn silver (and Sen) in the game. They do not take too long to round up and reward silver in addition to raising your Bond Level. This makes them the most efficient option at your disposal when you begin to farm Silver Coins before branching out into other activities.

With enough Silver Coins in your pouch and some new weapons to buy, you might need to readjust your Ronin’s stats and skills to make the most of them. Look no further than our Rise of the Ronin guides to sniff out the next opportunity to test your shiny new gear!
