Powerful bosses are one of the fundamental attractions of action-adventure and shooter games. These games lack interest if the boss fights are not intense and complicated. That’s the case with the Call of Duty games as well. So, this season Activision has introduced multiple challenging enemies to MW3 Zombies to make the journey more tricky for the players. Among these enemies, the Dark Aether Worm, Gorm’gant comes to the top. The Dark Aether is already enough dangerous place to explore, and this boss makes it a lot more challenging to survive. So, if you are looking for a guide to know how to defeat the Aether Worm Gorm’gant in MW3 Zombies, this guide will help you with every possible detail.

Before you go for a fight, there are some key details that you should know about your enemies, and among them, the primary one is the location. So, let’s first check out where will you find the Aether Worm.

If you are curious to encounter the Aether Worm boss fight, the process will take some time, as this boss will appear as part of a mission. To begin with the process, start the Act 4 mission, Bad Signal. This mission has two objectives:

  • Investigate the Anomaly.
  • Exit the Dark Aether Rift.

So, this mission will take you to the Dark Aether for a brief time. After you start the mission and complete the objectives, eventually, you have to reach the exit portal to complete the mission and that’s where you will meet the Gorm’gant boss.

Once all the objectives are done, the exit portal will be marked on the map. When you reach the location, the ground will start rumbling and the giant worm boss will appear with his tricky but dangerous attacks.

How to Prepare for the Fight

When you see the Aether Worm boss, you will probably remember Orcus, another giant boss of Act 3. The fighting process and the preparation will be the same for these two bosses. Inside the Dark Aether, the enemies are incredibly challenging, similar to the level 3 zombies in tier 3. So, you can’t take things lightly.

Given the size and abilities of the boss, a few tries will be required to beat it. We recommend bringing some of the best MW3 Zombies weapons for this fight, including Wunderwaffe DG 2, Ray Gun, At least one level three Pack A Punch gun, Decoy Grenade, Juggernaut, Sentry Gun, and all the suitable perks to survive and fight back. Among the perks, you can choose Jugger-Nog, Self Revive, and PHD Flopper.

About the weapons we suggested, both the Ray Gun and Wunderwaffle DG 2 are hard to acquire. While the first one is a Wonder Weapon, the next one is one of the ultra-rare weapons in the game. So, if you don’t have any of them in your possession, don’t worry. Bring a tier 3 Pack-a-Punch weapon as your primary one and a level 2 Pack-a-Punch weapon as a secondary. But focus on your defense equipment properly.

Also, the Dark Aether is not a safe place to explore alone. Though MW3 Zombies can be played solo and players can do everything in the solo mode, boss fights are not suggested to be taken alone. So, if you are planning to fight the Gorm’gant boss, make sure to have a squad to back you up. Having a squad boosts courage and helps players divert the attention of the boss by attacking it from multiple sides. Otherwise, if the boss pays the entire focus on you, you have to struggle a lot. At least a four-member squad will be required for this boss fight.

Now, that you are prepared for the boss fight, let’s check the attacks the boss will launch and how to attack it.

How to Take Down Gorm’gant in MW3 Zombies?

This giant Dark Aether worm is not easy to deal with. It has a standard health bar and this boss will take a test of your patience. So, don’t hurry. Once you appear for the fight, the first thing you will notice is that the battle arena has almost no covers to hide. So, first, eliminate the plan to take cover and attack the boss from there. Next, there will be zombies to deal with. If you are a solo player, this situation will be tricky for you. But don’t panic. Dodge the attacks of the boss and deal with the enemies first. But if you have a squad, divided into groups to deal with the zombies, and fight the boss. Once again, we suggest not to become the center of attention of Gorm’gant. It will be hugely risky.

The boss generally has a few attacks that it uses randomly. First, it has a Slam Attack that will deal AoE damage. So stay out of its range, if you don’t want to lose your health. Next, it has a few more attacks, like it sometimes disappears under the sand and reappears randomly. It even shoots orbs that will follow you until they are destroyed. Finally, the most dangerous attack that players must be careful of is that the worm can eat you if you get too close. These attacks are random, so it’s hard to understand which attack it will launch.

It’s always better to keep a safe distance from the boss. If the boss eats you, immediately use your parachute to escape. The game won’t tell you the way to escape, but the glider will help you survive this situation. Even if you are hit and damaged, use your revive kits to revive your health.

The Gorm’gant boss has similar purple glowing spots like Orcus. These are the weak spots of the enemy and players must target those spots. It is better if more than one person hits it at a time to deal a considerable amount of damage. Additionally, don’t stay at a location. Keep moving to dodge the boss attacks and avoid the zombies as well. Occasionally, use the lethal equipment you have brought to drain a chunk of the health of the boss.

This fight will take time. You can’t make things faster. It’s better not to even try to do that. If you rush, you may make mistakes and the boss will take you down. However, once the boss fight is over and the enemy is dead, the exit portal will open and you will get the Locked Diary as a reward for completing the Bad Signal mission.
