Margit, the Fell Omen in Elden Ring

If you have been playing Elden Ring, you must have understood that the optional bosses give a lot more hard time than one can imagine and Margit, the Fell Omen will be the first major Elden Ring boss many players based on the path they have chosen. Margit is a boss whose defeat won’t change the story of the game, but without defeating him, you can’t progress through the Stormveil Castle. He will be found guarding the entrance of the castle and without killing him, players can’t advance through the castle.

Stormveil Castle is located at the top northwest side of West Limgrave. If you have defeated the other mini-bosses of West Limgrave, you probably have understood the difficulty, still, Margit will be a lot more challenging. But if you haven’t yet fought mini-bosses and have avoided them throughout, Margit seems to be deadly.

Margit, the Fell Omen Fighting Process

If you are planning to fight Margit, it is better if you reach level 23-25 before that. Margit is a tough enemy with multiple unpredictable attacks. Though he seems to be weak to nothing, that’s not the fact. Margit is weak in poison and bleed damage. So, you must keep these two attacks as your primary ones.

For the bleed attack, bring any weapon based on your level that lets the enemy bleed. Now, for the poison attacks, you can get Spirit Jellyfish. This Spirit Ash is not very helpful in the melee fight, but it can deal a decent amount of poison damage to the enemy. Go through all the dialogues with the NPC you encounter in the Stormhill Shack and you will unlock this Spirit Ash.

Another Spirit Ash that you may use in the fight is the Lone Wolf Spirit Ash. In this Spirit Ash, players summon three wolves who can distract the boss and deal damage to him. As they distract the boss, players will get a chance to deal damage to Margit. All three wolves will have their separate health bars.

Additionally, you can call Sorcerer Rogier for this fight. However, we recommend doing that when the situation gets extremely troublesome for you. You can also acquire Margit’s Shackle which will make things a lot more easier for you during this fight. However, it can only be purchased from a specific merchant whom you can find in the Murkwater Cave located north of Agheel Lake. You can purchase it for 5000 Runes and only use it in the first phase of the fight.

Now that you are ready for this fight, let’s dive into the fighting process.

Margit, the Fell Omen First Phase of Fight

Among the two phases, of course, the first one is the easiest. Players need to watch out for the attacks and roll to avoid them. However, if you have Margit’s Shackle, you can use it to protect yourself. Remember, in the Margit fight, the scope of recovery is less as the boss won’t let you recover if you get damaged a lot. The boss’s attacks are frequent and somewhat random which you can’t predict. So, defense should be your priority.

During the first phase, the boss will use a few attacks like the Dagger Attacks. This is the primary weapon that the boss use to attack. A lot of daggers combos the boss will launch and these will come in quick succession. Next, is the Staff Attack that players should avoid as the enemy will raise their large Staff to attack the players. However, players can easily anticipate the move whenever they see the boss raising the staff. Apart from these, the boss has a Charged Attack and a Throwing Dagger Attack. However, players can easily dodge the attacks, or roll out to avoid them.

Margit, the Fell Omen Fight Second Phase of Fight

In the second phase, the boss will become more aggressive and he adds a new weapon to his arsenal: a hammer. Margit won’t hesitate to apply it on you frequently. This phase will have almost all the previous attacks with two newly added ones: Hammer Swing, and Jumping Hammer Strike. Both attacks are deadly.

In Hammer Swing, the boss will make a long telegraph before swinging the hammer at you. Upon hitting, this hammer will deal tons of damage. After the telegraph, the energy surrounding the boss will explode into the hammer, followed immediately by the attack. Players must dodge the attack or they may get an instant elimination.

After these attacks, Margit will take some time to recover. These few seconds are your chance to deal as much damage as possible. While your Spirit Ash can help you deal extra damages to the boss, we recommend staying behind of the boss and hit him whenever you get a chance. This fight will be first challenging encounter, so it will take some time. But with patience and strategy, you can go through everything.

That’s all you need to know about how to beat Margit the Fell Omen in Elden Ring. Upon defeat, the boss will drop 1200 Runes and a Talisman Pouch. However, that’s not the first and the last Margit encounter. You will again encounter him as Morgott, the Omen King. This time he will be a mandatory boss to defeat.
