How to Defeat Kojiro in Ghost of Tsushima
Jin seems to have angered a few ronin. Its time to settle things once and for all.
Ghost of Tsushima is among a rare collection of games in which its side content ties in well with the main story as well as with in-game progression systems. Its Mythic Tales are a great showcase of this, lending the island of Tsushima many interesting legends, and Jin with some cool gear and skills.
The Six Blades of Kojiro is a showcase of how these stories can tie in with the larger setting of the game, taking Jin all around the island for a series of duels in stunning locations. And at the end of this marathon in swordplay is Kojiro, the deadliest of the Straw-Hat Ronin.
An Unconventional Invitation
Jin first learns of Kojiro through Yamato the musician in Umugi Cove. Stories of his time as a ronin have built into his legend, and rumor has it his armor has magical properties too. Kojiro’s actions have alienated him from the Straw Hats. But not without netting him a few hardcore loyalists.

It seems that Kojiro and his loyal Ronin have taken it upon themselves to claim the bounty on the Ghost of Tsushima. All that remains is for Jin to find them and take them on.
He hunts down the five blades of Kojiro, dueling them with deadly skill and precision. Kojiro then leaves a message for Jin with Yamato once again, inviting him over to his hideout for a final battle.
Time to take down the former Straw hat.
Kojiro is among the finest swordsmen Jin can find in Tsushima. It can be a good idea to level up your health, resolve, and defensive moves before engaging him, as he can make short work of an unprepared samurai. Your best defensive armor can help you tank some damage. Or you could choose more gains to your resolve to stay in the fight.

We also recommend leveling up your sword and collecting defensive Charms to secure every advantage you can get before taking on one of Ghost of Tsushima’s most dangerous opponents.
Kojiro relies on quick attacks with several variations to deal damage to Jin. Many of his attacks are unblockable, requiring you to dodge out of their way. Like the Spirit of Yarikawa, he sheathes his sword to unleash a flurry of unblockable slashes that Jin can punish by striking before his sword leaves its sheath.

In most cases, playing defensively is a good strategy. Allow Kojiro to initiate attacks and respond to them with a parry or dodge. He employs a low swipe attack that must be jumped over followed by a single normal attack that can be parried. This is a great opportunity to upset his balance and open him up for critical strikes.
It may take a few attempts to nail down the timing of his attacks and to get used to their many variations. But with a bit of patience and skill, Jin eventually brings Kojiro down to his last bit of health, wherein the ronin begins to add a few attacks to the end of his combos. Once again, defense mixed in with a few heavy attacks to wear down his guard should be your strategy.
With Kojiro down, Jin can finally claim Kojiro’s Kensei Armor and a generous amount of XP, a Legend increase, and a Sword Kit for his efforts.
With Kojiro out of the way, now might be a good time to take on the search for Gosaku’s armor. Or collect more Charms or Bamboo Strikes to give Jin every advantage he can get against the Mongols. Whatever you choose, our Ghost of Tsushima guides are sure to help.
