Elden Ring is a massive game that takes around 140 hours of playtime to complete the game without leaving anything behind. However, there’s hardly any way to avoid the boss encounters in the game, and Godrick the Grafted can easily be considered one of the toughest bosses of the game. Unfortunately, Godrick the Grafted is one of the main bosses of the game and a Shardbearer whom players can’t avoid at any cost. Despite being one of the earliest bosses of the game, Godrick poses a real threat that players should overcome.

Godrick the Grafted can be found inside the Stormveil Castle and is the second major obstacle of the area to remove. Stormveil Castle is one of the hardest Legacy Dungeons to clear and you can easily guess the enemies you can get inside it. Players can’t access the battle arena randomly as the entrance is guarded by another powerful enemy, Margit, the Fell Omen.

Godrick Fight Preparation in Elden Ring

Before you go to the fight, one thing you must be sure of is that you are not below level 27. Better if you reach level 29 and take this fight up. Fighting Godrick seems to be difficult because of the boss’ tendency not to get enough damage from most elemental damages. However, the boss still has a weakness to exploit and that’s his weakness to Bleed damage. If you use a weapon that causes him to bleed, you can drain a hefty chunk of the boss’s HP. Additionally, players can inflict the Rot status effect. The boss is weak to Rot.

Another thing that you must remember to make the fight easier is to summon Nepheli Loux. As you explore the Stormveil Castle, you will eventually come across Nepheli Loux, the warrior NPC standing over a corpse. Once you start interacting with her, she will express her desire to fight Godrick with you. So, don’t waste the chance.

When you enter the battle arena you will find a golden summon sign that you can use to summon Nepheli Loux. This will give an advantage when fighting the boss. The best part of the summon is that you can summon her as many times as you want.

Godrick Fight Phase 1

As the fight begins, you will eventually realize that Godrick attacks slow, but hits hard. This boss has several moves to deal enough damage to you. The first move that you should be aware of is the axe attack. In this attack, the boss pulls his sword on the ground in a circular motion to create a wave of fire. Step back to avoid the attack. Next comes the Jump Axe attacks. In this attack the boss jumps into the air, raises his axe, and crashes to the ground, dealing massive damage if you fail to avoid it.

The deadliest attack of Phase 1 is the wind attack where the boss creates a tunnel of wind around himself and sends it toward the players. This attack of followed by two projectile beams- one from the right side and the other from the left side. If these beams hit, it may cause an instant elimination. Sometimes the boss uses another deadly attack which is the roll attack, where the boss rolls toward the players. If you get hit, it will deal massive damage. But it can be a great chance to hit the boss.

The first phase of the boss fight is comparatively easy to overcome. When you deal enough damage that the boss has lost 60% of his health, the next phase will start after a cutscene.

Godrick Fight Phase 2

The second phase of the boss fight will be the real test of your fighting skills and patience. During the second phase, players must keep calm and focus on defense as the offense options get low. The boss will use some of the previous attacks in this phase, but mostly you will new moves.

The first move is the fire-throwing move from his newly developed hand. The flames he throws have a wide range and will take a while before they disappear. Fortunately, this attack doesn’t do lots of damage, and keeping a safe distance is enough to avoid it.

Another attack that his flamethrower hand will launch is the showering of fireball attack. In this attack, the boss will raise his hand and throw fireballs up in the air. These balls will then shower fire around you and if you take damage, you will lose lots of HP. During this stage, Godrick will use his hammer to create shockwaves. He often slams his hammer on the ground and creates a big shock wave that you can’t even avoid by hiding behind it. Run away from the boss, as much as possible.
