How to Defeat Deep Serpent in Hades 2
Deep Serpent is challenging but isn't unbeatable.
Hades 2 features challenging enemies to deal with throughout the game. This enemy list includes both bosses and mini-bosses, but none of them are easy to take down. If you have played roguelike action RPGs before, you must have a clear idea of how mini-bosses sometimes become strong enemies to deal with. If you have never faced this kind of situation, don’t worry; Deep Serpent in Hades 2 will give you a clear picture.
Deep Serpent is a mini-boss to fight in the game. But if you take him lightly because of his early appearance or being a mini-boss, let me tell you, it’s going to cause you heavy damage. So, if you are trying to beat the enemy and looking for some guidance on how to tackle it, this guide will provide you with a complete walkthrough of the process.
Hades 2: Deep Serpent Location and Basic Preparation for the Fight
Mini-bosses are one of the most annoying parts of any action or role-playing game. Though these boss fights don’t take a lot of time, they still present challenges for players, and often these fights end with the elimination of the player. The scenario is pretty similar in Hades 2. The Deep Serpent boss is not an optional boss in the game; instead, players will fight him as they start exploring the second biome of the Underworld, named Oceanus.
There’s no option to avoid this fight, and the mini-boss comes with some challenging moves to give Melinoe a challenging yet memorable fighting experience. Considering it a mini-boss, don’t go underprepared, or you are going to regret it soon. The best weapon you can use for this fight is Umbral Flames. Unlock Melting Comet and Split Fire upgrades to boost the power of this weapon.

Melting Comet is undoubtedly the best thing to use against an armored enemy, as it takes away 80% of the armor in a single blow. If you combine it with Split Fire, your attacks will become deadly with a wider attack range. Besides these, focus on equipping suitable Boons for the fight. We recommend using Hephaestus Boons for blast damage, Hestia Boons to drain the health of the enemy over time, and Aphrodite Boons to inflict weakness on the enemy.
Upon equipping the recommended items, if you are now ready for the fight, let’s dive into the strategies to win the battle without taking damage.
How to Defeat Deep Serpent in Hades 2
As soon as you arrive at the battle arena to fight Deep Serpent, the Sop Spindles immediately attract the attention of the players, and they need to be taken down as fast as possible. These are another type of enemy. Though they are not challenging, they are indeed annoying, especially because of the beam attacks.
In the Deep Serpent’s arena, players will face the upgraded version of these enemies. Therefore, dealing with them should be done as early as possible. Otherwise, their constant beam attacks will make the fight more challenging.
The elimination process won’t take long and must be done before the serpent starts launching his deadly attacks. Fortunately, the Deep Serpent has only a few attacks, but they are massively damaging attacks that drain a chunk of health. The first on the list is the Spin Attack. In this attack, the mini-boss performs a 360-degree spinning attack when Melinoe gets close to him. This attack has a surprising range, and there’s no way to block this attack. So, the only way to avoid it is to roll away from the boss.
Timing is key to avoiding this attack. If you calculate the exact time of the attack being landed, dodge it by going backward and creating as much distance as possible. Cluster Bomb is the next attack to watch out for during this fight. This is one of the most dangerous attacks by the boss, as this attack comes with no indication at all. In this attack, the boss fires multiple projectiles at players. As they hit the ground, they will explode, dealing massive damage.
Fortunately, the landing areas are marked earlier to make players aware of the locations where the projectiles are going to hit. So, the only option to stay secure is to stay away from the red circles on the ground.
The final attack of the boss is Splitting Bomb. In this attack, the boss fires a projectile that spreads out twice. The direction in which the projectiles travel is constant, but if you are close to the boss, you may not get enough time to dodge the attack. Therefore, keeping your distance from the boss is recommended.

Once you are aware of all the attacks the boss launches, one thing you must have understood is that staying close to the enemy is not safe. The battle arena has decent space to keep a safe distance from the enemy. This is recommended so you can get enough time to dodge the attacks.
Throughout the fight, this enemy is going to disappear under the water and pop out at a new location. So, don’t get distracted by anything else, and watch out for every movement of the boss. Additionally, the boss has heavy armor that should be broken to make it vulnerable. That’s why we have recommended that you bring the Melting Comet upgrade. This works like magic. Staggering the enemy for a long time is almost impossible. So, use Hestia Boons to drain his health over time.
Aside from that, whenever you want to deal damage to the boss at close range, use the Aphrodite Boons to inflict weakness. The enemy will become slow, and you will get a chance to deal damage to him. A final word to keep in mind is: don’t run randomly in the arena. Watch out for the red circles throughout the location.
That’s everything players need to know about beating Deep Serpent in Hades 2. This fight won’t take long to win, but if your next target is Chronos, you need both time and help to beat the boss.
