Charger Encounter in Helldivers 2

Charger is one of the most fearsome bug enemies that players will find in the game. Naturally, these enemies won’t appear at a lower difficulty level. So, if you are willing to have a fight with Chargers, you must play the game at medium difficulty, or higher. If you are a solo player without a group and still want to face Charger, go for medium difficulty. Otherwise, it will be hard to handle these giant bugs.

On the Galactic War map, you will find the yellow zones and planets on those sections of the map have the most chance of spawning Chargers. Once you have landed on a planet, it is best to start completing objectives like clearing Terminid Nests or destroy their eggs. Once you start these objectives, you will certainly find Chargers defending these areas. Alternatively, while choosing a mission, check the bottom of the mission screen and if you find, “Heavily Armored Enemies” alert, be sure to encounter a Charger.

Charger Fighting Process

We have already mentioned that Chargers are heavily armored enemies and firing at them randomly won’t work at all. So, players need to choose the best weapons and Stratagems before they start the mission. To fight these giant bugs, players need to equip weapons that deal massive damage. In that case the best weapons you can bring are Recoilless Rifle, Expendable Anti-Tank Launcher, SG-225 Breaker, Autocannon, etc.

Before getting nerfed, two shots of the Railgun was enough to take down a Charger, but the situation is different. Still, players must bring Railgun to fight Charger. Apart from that, players can also use Orbital Precision Strike or Eagle Airstrike to deal massive damage to the enemy. One can’t bring all these weapons and stratagems together for sure; still we have recommended all so that you have options available based on the weapons and stratagems you have unlocked.

However, we recommend bringing the SG-225 Breaker for sure as it is one of the most effective weapons against Chargers. Within 2 magazines, this weapon will empty the health bar of the enemy.

With all the weapons and stratagems, once you are prepared for the fight, now let’s check out the weaknesses of the enemy and strategies to fight them.

How to Fight Chargers in Helldivers 2? Weakness of the Enemy

Once you decide to face Charger, you need to be prepared for a hard fight. For that, the first thing you need to know is the weak spot of the enemy. Once you figure out the weak spot of the enemy, the fight will be much easier. Initially, when you first meet the enemy, it seems to have no weak spots. However, that’s not the case. Irrespective of their size and power, every Helldivers 2 enemies have a few weak spots. For the Chargers their weak spot is the orange abdomen portion. But this portion will only be visible once you get the chance to get to its backside.

This abdomen portion is difficult to access. Therefore, naturally players will look for another weak spot which is its small black head. So, everytime you fire, you must try to land the shot at any of these weak spots to deal the most damage. However, staying in front of the enemy is not safe as it will constantly attack you. Try to move constantly and avoid the attacks.

Charger’s Weak Spot

Chargers have strong legs and they use their legs to eliminate players instantly. The frequently used attack that these bugs use is the crush attack, where they will crush them with their metal claws. Otherwise, they will  try to run players over and eliminate them. Generally, Chargers roam with a big team. So, the best way to deal with them is to lure them out of the group. However, whenever they start running toward you, dive as soon as they get close, so the enemy doesn’t get the chance to change their direction.

Indeed Chargers armor is hard to break, but there’s no other option than breaking it. If players can deal enough damage with their stratagems and weapons, the armor will eventually break, making the enemy vulnerable. We suggest using Autocannon for this task. Whether you have broken it or not will be understood when the orange flesh of the bug will be revealed.

This fight will be challenging, especially if you are a solo player. Therefore, it will be better if you bring a few teammates with you to fight Chargers. Attacking the giant bug enemy from different sides will help players divert its attention. You can use this chance to go to the back side and hit its orange abdomen portion. This fight may take some time, but players can easily win it.

That’s all players need to know to beat Charger in Helldivers 2. This fight will be challenging, but exciting as well for the players who love to take down strong opponents. While fighting, don’t forget to focus on your defense. A single hit from the enemy can instantly waste all your effort.
