Since the Zombies mode was introduced in Modern Warfare 3, it has created a separate but strong fanbase where players have been expecting to get a new expansion of the story that Season 1 has started. The Season 2 Reloaded update has fulfilled their wish and has brought a new Tier with a new exciting story mission: Countermeasures. Tier 4 is different as it doesn’t have other missions like the previous three tiers. It only has a single story mission and this guide will try to suggest you a proper way to complete Countermeasures.

If you have completed the Season 1 MW3 Zombies missions, you must have already realized that in most cases these missions need some prior planning to complete them. Players need to understand the tasks and figure out the exact strategy to complete these missions, and Countermeasures is not an exception. Therefore, before discussing the steps to complete the mission, let’s check the objectives of this mission.

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Tier 4 Countermeasures Objectives-  Explained

Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Tier 4 Countermeasures Objectives

The previous Zombies mission experience tells that story missions are the final missions of a tier, and arguably the most complicated ones to complete. Though Tier 4 has no other missions, except for the Countermeasures, the difficulty level of this mission is the same as others. This mission has only two objectives to complete, but they will take you through different activities. The objectives that you need to complete include:

  • Investigate the Anomany
  • Escape the Rift

These two objectives probably seem to be straightforward tasks to be completed, but the reality differs as these tasks need to be completed inside the new Dark Aether. However, the only fortunate part is that this Dark Aether doesn’t contain deadly enemies like the previous one. So, probably you will find the process of completing Countermeasures a little bit easier. With all these in mind, now let’s move towards the steps to complete the mission.

Steps and Strategies to Complete MW3 Zombies Countermeasures Mission

Once you clearly understand the objectives of the mission, the mission becomes a lot easier. If you have reached Tier IV, you must have completed the previous storymissions, but this one differs from them. Here, the helicopter won’t take you to your destination. Instead, the Countermeasures begin as soon as you enter the Dark Aether Rift. Now, the problem is players may find it confusing to locate the new Dark Aether Rift. Don’t worry, we have the solution.

Dark Aether Rift

The New Dark Aether Rift location will be marked on the tac-map, somewhere in the Red zone. Open your tac map and you will find an exfil icon with a yellow star on it. That’s your destination where the Dark Aether Portal is located. However, before you go to the portal, ensure you have all the necessary arrangements made as you won’t get the chance once you enter the portal.

The first thing players need is at least a level 2 Pack-A-Punch weapon. This process requires some grinding. If you have enough Essence, players can even go for level 3 Pack-A-Punch. However, the enemies inside the Dark Aether Rift are not that dangerous. So, instead, save your essence for something else and have a level 2 Pack-A-Punch weapon. For the other weapons, get two level 1 Pack-A-Punch weapons of your preference.

Next, another essential thing that players need to have before they start the mission is a Gas Mask. It will be a compulsory one as players will need it during the mission. Along with these, players must bring strong perks. We recommend having Speed Cola, Jugger-Nog, Death Perception, Stamin-Up, and Quick Revive. These are the best perks you can carry for this mission.

About a squad, that’s not necessary. Having a squad is all right, but if you don’t have a squad, that’s not a problem as NPC soldiers will assist you during this mission. So, this mission can easily be completed solo without any help. Once you are ready to enter the portal, make your way to the location marked on your map and enter the portal.

As soon as you enter the portal, the first objective appears: Investigate the nearby distress signal. This one requires you to enter a specific building and locate a few soldiers on the top floor. The building location will be marked on your map. You have to bring the Terminus soldiers out.

Once this mission is done, the next mission requires you to Escort an ACV. Once you get the ACV, the remaining part of this mission is like a simple Escort mission. Players need to overcome the obstacles and make the ACV reach its destination. Next, you have to complete an Elimination task where players need to defeat enemies and destroy the signal disruption.

The third objective you receive is the Rescue Fletcher, where players need to go to the mall and clear 15 cysts. This task is similar to clearing Aether Nests. The mall will be full of zombies and a special zombie will also spawn. Though it looks like a Mimic, it is called Zapps. These enemies fire electrical pulses. Once you clear the stronghold, Fletcher will come out.

The final mission that you need to complete is the Outlast mission, where players need to eliminate hordes of zombies near the PND device and activate it. Once you have cleared the area and activated the PND device, wait a little for the Krawvir boss to spawn. It is a deadly Mangler enemy that will constantly summon zombie hordes to make the fight complicated.

Fighting Krawvir boss

This is an armored boss and players need to shoot his hands, legs, and other parts of the body to break the armor. Once the armor breaks, the boss will start taking damage. However, don’t try to get close to the boss. Keep a safe distance and fire at him from there. Anyway, don’t forget to watch out for the boss’ attacks. For crowd control, you can use Decoy Grenades.

Once this boss is dead, an exit rift will spawn and players can leave Dark Aether, completing the Countermeasures mission. This mission will reward players with several items including Drum. Don’t forget to claim your rewards, before leaving Dark Aether.

That’s everything players need to do to complete the Countermeasures mission in MW3 Zombies. This mission will take time to complete, but if you are prepared for the fights, things won’t seem to be challenging for you.
